Are all the ports on the GWN7701PA PoE-powered?
Yes, all eight, with 802.3af and 802.3at PoE+, up to 30 W per port, within a total budget of 145 W. That is twice the budget of the 4-port models in the series — enough to power a complete small camera installation.
Does this switch require any configuration?
No: it is unmanaged and ready to use. It powers devices and switches traffic as soon as it is switched on, with no interface or settings. That is the deliberate trade-off: no monitoring of PoE consumption, but nothing to set up.
Where can this switch be installed?
On a desk, on a wall or in a rack: all three mounting options are supported, in a metal casing. That is rare on an 8-port unmanaged model, and handy when the switch has to go into an existing patch cabinet.
Does this switch handle video traffic properly?
Yes: IGMP snooping sends multicast streams only to the ports that request them, and 802.1p/DSCP prioritisation sends packets tagged as priority to the front. 802.3x flow control limits packet loss in the event of saturation.
What internal performance does this 8-port model offer?
16 Gbps of switching capacity, i.e. line rate on all eight Gigabit ports, all of them PoE-powered. Its green technology also reduces the switch's own power consumption, excluding the power delivered to devices.
