How many of the ZyXEL GS1008HP's ports supply PoE+?
All eight, all in PoE+ 802.3at, up to 30 W per port, within a total budget of 60 W. You can therefore plug a camera into any port, provided you stay within the overall budget.
What can be powered with a 60 W PoE budget?
Six to eight fixed cameras or standard IP phones, or two power-hungry devices at 30 W. The number of PoE ports is not the limit: it is the 60 W budget that has to be shared among the connected devices.
Does the GS1008HP need configuring?
No: it is an unmanaged model. No VLANs, no web interface, no SNMP monitoring: PoE activates automatically when a compatible device is detected. It is a switch for powering devices, not for managing them.
Is this PoE switch noisy?
No: it has no fan, so it makes no noise at all. That is what allows it to be installed in an office or a reception area, not just in a closed equipment room.
