Frequently asked questions about this product

What does PoE++ bring to the ZyXEL XMG-108HP?
Up to 60 W per port, twice as much as standard PoE+, within a total budget of 100 W. That is what multi-radio Wi-Fi 6E access points, heated motorised cameras and network-powered digital signage require.
Do the powered ports run at 2.5 Gbps?
Yes, all eight ports run at up to 2.5 Gbps and remain compatible with 100 Mbps and Gigabit. A recent Wi-Fi access point therefore gets both power and a link that does not hold it back, over a single cable.
What is the SFP+ slot on this switch for?
For the 10 Gbps uplink, to the network core or directly to network storage. Without it, eight 2.5 Gbps ports would quickly saturate a simple Gigabit link to the rest of the network.
Can this switch be configured?
No: it is plug-and-play, with no management interface. PoE++ activates on its own when a compatible device is detected: no management IP address, no VLAN to set up.
What power consumption should be expected for this switch?
Up to 120 W, once the 100 W of PoE++ is being delivered. The unit measures 240 × 105 × 27 mm and weighs 715 g: compact, but not to be enclosed without airflow, given the power it delivers.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. This is the ZyXEL XMG-108HP, a desktop multi-Gigabit PoE++ switch, not rack-mountable.
