This product is covered for 3 years by a manufacturer's warranty (the brand's official warranty). Your iris.ma invoice serves as the warranty document: keep it safe.

A problem with your product? Don't worry: contact us by phone, WhatsApp or e-mail. Depending on the brand, we direct you either straight to the repairer appointed by the brand to fix your product, or to us — and we take care of the rest.

  • If a repair is possible, it is carried out free of charge.
  • If the product cannot be repaired, the brand offers an exchange for another product.

Frequently asked questions about this product

Does the Instant On 1830 48G power devices over PoE?
No: the JL814A is the non-PoE version. Its 48 Gigabit ports carry data only, and the 4 SFP slots are used for fibre uplinks. Cameras or access points that need power therefore require an injector, or a PoE model from the same series.
Which IP address should you use for the first connection to the 1830?
The switch starts up as a DHCP client and takes the address handed out by the router. If there is no DHCP server on the link, it takes the fixed address 192.168.1.1: put your laptop on the same subnet to open the local web interface.
Do you need a subscription to manage this switch from the cloud?
No: all features are included in the price of the hardware, with no licence or subscription fees. You can manage it from the Instant On mobile app, the cloud portal, the local web interface or an SNMP manager.
Can you schedule certain ports to shut down at night?
Yes, with up to three time schedules: each one enables or disables ports at a set time. On an access switch, this shuts off a room's network sockets outside opening hours — a simple security measure that requires no extra equipment.
How is voice traffic prioritised on this switch?
Quality of service recognises packets marked with DSCP or IEEE 802.1p — VoIP and video first — and puts them ahead of the rest of the traffic. A dedicated management VLAN also restricts access to the interface to technicians' workstations only.
How can you physically spot this switch in a full rack?
A locator LED can be set to on, blinking or off from the interface: the right chassis stands out at once among identical models. That saves five minutes on every job in a crowded rack.
Which Layer 2 features does this model offer?
802.1Q VLANs, LACP link aggregation, IGMP snooping, STP, RSTP and MSTP spanning tree against loops, and IEEE 802.1X port-based authentication. Enough to structure a dense access network without moving up to a core-network range.
What internal performance does this 52-port chassis offer?
104 Gbps switching capacity and 77.37 Mpps, with a 16,000-entry MAC address table — sized for a dense fleet of workstations and servers. The processor is an 800 MHz ARM Cortex-A9, backed by 512 MB of RAM and a 1.5 MB packet buffer.
Is this 48-port model quiet?
It has variable-speed fans: unlike the series' 8- and 24-port non-PoE models, which are designed without fans, this 48-port chassis is actively cooled. It belongs in a rack or a technical room rather than in an occupied office.
What power consumption and space should you allow for the JL814A?
40.2 W at most at 100-127 V and 40 W at 200-220 V, compared with 17.7 W at idle. The chassis measures 44.30 × 25.30 × 4.39 cm and weighs 3.54 kg, i.e. 1U in 19-inch format and 25 cm deep: it fits in a deep wall-mount cabinet.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment with a 3-year warranty, the invoice serving as the warranty document. The manufacturer's document covers the whole Instant On 1830 series, its PoE and non-PoE models and their features: datasheet (PDF).
