Aruba Instant On 1830 8-port Gigabit managed switch — a silent managed switch for small offices that want to segment their network without any noise.
Connectivity: 8 × 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ45 ports — no SFP port — fanless design, completely silent in any setting.
No PoE: connected devices use their own power supply. Port 1 can itself be powered by PoE from upstream (Class 3 Powered Device).
Performance: 16 Gbit/s non-blocking switching capacity, 11.90 Mpps throughput, 8,000-entry MAC table.

Does the Instant On 1830 8-port switch power devices over PoE?
No: the JL810A is the non-PoE version. Its 8 Gigabit ports carry data only. A PoE device therefore requires an injector, or the Class 4 PoE model in the same series, which powers half of its ports.
How much power does this small managed switch draw?
8.09 W at most at 100-127 V and 8.05 W at 200-220 V, compared with around 5.8 W at idle. That is the consumption of a night light, for a switch that is nonetheless managed, with VLANs, quality of service and cloud monitoring.
Which IP address should you use for the first connection?
The switch starts up as a DHCP client and takes the address assigned by the router. If there is no DHCP server on the link, it falls back to the static address 192.168.1.1: put your laptop in the same subnet to open the local web interface.
Can ports be scheduled to shut down outside working hours?
Yes, with up to three time schedules: each one enables or disables ports at a set time. On a switch serving a meeting room or reception area, this closes off the outlets outside opening hours with no additional hardware.
Do you need a subscription to manage this switch from the cloud?
No: all features are included in the price of the hardware, with no licence or subscription fees. Management is done from the Instant On mobile app, the cloud portal, the local web interface or an SNMP manager.
Does this switch give priority to voice traffic?
Yes: quality of service recognises packets marked with DSCP or IEEE 802.1p — VoIP and video first — and puts them ahead of the rest of the traffic. A dedicated management VLAN also restricts access to the interface to IT staff workstations only.
How much space does this switch take up on a desk?
The unit measures 17.30 × 15.70 × 3.91 cm: it slips under a monitor or into a small cabinet. The embedded memory is an ARM Cortex-A9 at 800 MHz with 512 MB of RAM and a 1.5 MB packet buffer.
What internal performance does this 8-port model offer?
16 Gbps switching capacity and 11.90 Mpps, i.e. line rate on its eight Gigabit ports. This is the sizing of a supplementary switch: an isolated office, a meeting room, a demanding workstation that needs several wired connections.
