6-port Gigabit L2 managed switch with 4 PoE+ ports, ultra-compact in a metal casing, to power and connect IP cameras, access points and VoIP phones where space is tight.
The RG-ES206GS-P has 4 x 802.3af/at PoE+ RJ45 ports, 1 non-PoE Gigabit RJ45 port and 1 Gigabit/1G SFP combo port for a fibre or copper uplink. The overall PoE budget reaches 54 W. Non-blocking switching reaches 12 Gbps for 8.9 Mpps, with a 2,000-entry MAC table.
The fanless design and compact metal casing (148 × 78 × 26 mm) allow discreet wall mounting or desktop placement. Management via Ruijie Cloud enables 802.1Q VLANs, PoE watchdog, automatic IP camera recognition and network loop prevention.

Can the 4 PoE+ ports power 4 cameras at full power?
The PoE budget is 54 W in total, shared across the four ports: with four devices connected, that leaves about 13 W each. That suits typical IP cameras, access points or VoIP phones, provided you add up their power draw before connecting everything.
Does the SFP port come in addition to the 6 RJ45 ports of the RG-ES206GS-P?
No: the switch has 6 Gigabit RJ45 ports in total, including one combo port shared with the single 1G SFP slot. As soon as a fibre module is fitted, the corresponding copper port can no longer be used: that leaves 5 RJ45 ports, including the 4 PoE+ ones. Bear this in mind when counting sockets.
What exactly is in the box?
The switch, its 54 V / 1.11 A power adapter, the user guide and the warranty card. No rack brackets, no screws, no feet: this model is designed to sit on a surface or be mounted on a wall.
How much power does this switch draw, and is it noisy?
Less than 6 W at idle and less than 60 W with all four PoE+ ports at full load, for heat dissipation of 20.5 to 205.2 BTU/h. It is fanless: no moving parts, so no noise. Allow 60 W when sizing the UPS if the PoE ports are loaded.
Will this switch fit in a small comms room or on a desk?
Yes: 148 × 78 × 26 mm and 308 g, for wall or desktop mounting. All ports support hot-plugging, so you can work on a cable without powering everything down.
What happens if a camera powered by the switch freezes?
The PoE watchdog cycles power to the port when the device stops responding, and each port can also be restarted individually from a remote location. The switch also recognises IP cameras and raises an alert when one of them goes offline: each one a site visit saved.
How can I tell whether a network cable is at fault during an outage?
A cable test is built into the interface, backed up by the system log (syslog) and remote diagnostics through Ruijie Cloud. A long-range mode also extends the copper link up to 250 m to reach a distant camera, with no intermediate equipment.
Can cameras be separated from the office network on this switch?
Yes: 802.1Q VLANs and port-based VLANs, up to 16 VLANs, a table of 2,000 MAC addresses, port isolation and mirroring to analyse a traffic flow. Suppression of broadcast, multicast and unknown unicast storms stops a malfunctioning device from swamping the others.
Is it fast enough for several simultaneous video streams?
Switching capacity of 12 Gbps at 8.9 Mpps, i.e. full line rate on all 6 Gigabit ports at once. Jumbo frames go up to 9,216 bytes, QoS rate-limits each interface on both ingress and egress, and port flow control absorbs congestion peaks.
How rugged is this switch in a comms room?
Metal casing, MTBF above 200,000 hours, CE and FCC certification, EN 62638-1 safety, ESD protection of 8 kV air and 6 kV contact and surge protection up to 6 kV in common mode. It operates from 0 to 40 °C and at altitudes up to 5,000 m, non-condensing.
Is this RG-ES206GS-P switch new and under warranty?
Yes: new and sealed equipment, supplied with its invoice, which serves as the warranty document for 1 year. Full details of the RG-ES200 series are in the manufacturer's datasheet (PDF).
