How many VLANs can be created on the TL-SG1024DE?
128 simultaneous VLANs, chosen from the 4,000 IDs of the 802.1Q standard. Three modes coexist: port-based VLAN, 802.1Q tagged VLAN and MTU VLAN, which is handy for isolating subscribers who should only see the uplink.
How is an Easy Smart switch configured?
Through a web interface or the Easy Smart Configuration Utility, which manages several switches in the range at once. Note: this utility only runs on Windows. It adds traffic monitoring, port mirroring and cable diagnostics.
Does this switch detect a cabling loop?
Yes, loop prevention is built in, along with an Ethernet link diagnostic that locates a break or short circuit on the cable. Storm control also limits the broadcast bursts that saturate a flat network.
Can voice traffic be prioritised on this switch?
Yes, by port, by 802.1p tag or by DSCP marking, spread across four queues. Per-port rate limiting rounds out the set. DSCP marking does, however, require hardware revision V2 or later: check the label under the housing.
Can several ports be aggregated towards a server?
Yes, with static aggregation, up to eight groups: several ports form a single logical link to a server or another switch, multiplying the bandwidth. Port mirroring also lets you analyse traffic on a dedicated computer.
What is in the box, and how is the switch mounted?
The box contains the switch, the power cord, the installation guide, a resource CD, the rack-mount kit and the rubber feet. The housing measures 294 × 180 × 44 mm, i.e. 1U high, and runs without a fan.
What internal performance does this 24-port model offer?
48 Gbps switching capacity and 35.7 Mpps, with an 8,000-entry MAC address table and a 512 KB buffer. Jumbo frames go up to 9 KB, IGMP snooping v1, v2 and v3 filters multicast, and store-and-forward mode discards damaged frames.
How much power does this switch draw, and how is it powered?
14.86 W maximum at 220 V/50 Hz, from a built-in power supply accepting 100 to 240 V: a mains cord is all it takes. Energy-saving technology shuts down idle ports and adjusts power to the length of the connected cable.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The fanless steel housing and built-in power supply limit mechanical failures on equipment meant to stay in a rack unattended.
