Frequently asked questions about this product
How many devices can the 370 W of PoE+ power across 24 ports?
370 W for 24 ports, in Class 4 up to 30 W per port: the budget is very comfortable here, since 24 cameras at 12 W use only 288 W of it. Even a dozen power-hungry Wi-Fi access points fit without any trade-off — something the 48-port version cannot do with the same budget.
How much electrical power should you plan for this 24-port model?
455 W at full PoE load, compared with 32.7 W with no powered device connected, on a 100-127 or 200-240 V input. The gap clearly shows where the energy goes: the switch itself draws little, it is the cameras and access points that weigh on the UPS.
What is the real throughput of this access switch?
56 Gbps switching capacity, 41.6 Mpps and 1.5 µs latency at Gigabit — i.e. line rate on the 24 copper ports and the 4 1G SFP slots. The MAC address table holds 8,192 entries, well above the needs of a single floor.
How many VLANs can be active simultaneously?
512 active VLANs, chosen from the 802.1Q range of 4,094 IDs. RPVST+ computes one spanning tree per VLAN to spread traffic better across redundant links, and “colourless” ports assign the VLAN to the user rather than to the outlet.
Can this switch route between two subnets?
Yes, with static routing for IPv4 and IPv6, with a dual stack so that both protocols can coexist. Traffic between VLANs then stays within the switch instead of going up to the router, which takes the load off the uplink at a medium-sized site.
How do you deploy this switch at a remote site?
Through Zero Touch Provisioning: the first time it is powered on, it retrieves its own configuration. Monitoring is then done from Aruba Central, in the cloud or on-premises, and the embedded software is activated without a subscription. A REST API lets you automate changes in bulk.
What network access protections does this model offer?
IPv4 and IPv6 access control lists, RADIUS and TACACS+ authentication, and management security that restricts access to critical commands with several password-protected privilege levels. Local roles also apply a policy per user, not per outlet.
How much rack space does this PoE chassis take up?
44.2 × 26.8 × 4.4 cm, i.e. 1U with a depth of 27 cm — the PoE power supply takes up space, without reaching the 30 cm of the 48-port model. The rack-mount kit comes with the switch, and it uses side-to-side airflow.
How do you regain control if the switch no longer responds over the network?
Through the command line, accessible locally, alongside the web interface and Aruba Central. The Switch Multi-Edit software also lets you apply the same fix to several switches in a single operation, without logging in to each one.
Are jumbo frames supported for heavy transfers?
Yes: they improve the performance of backups and large copies, provided that servers and network cards are set to the same size. At the same time, 802.1p quality of service prioritises voice and video on busy links.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment with a 3-year warranty, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The manufacturer's document details the CX 6000 series, its AOS-CX features and the specifications model by model: PDF datasheet.
