The Catalyst 2960X-24PS-L connects 24 workstations at Gigabit speed and powers the floor's IP phones, Wi-Fi access points and cameras over the same cable. Four SFP ports link it to the network core, and the LAN Base software image gives it the toolkit of an enterprise access switch.

Twelve devices in PoE+, or twenty-four in PoE
The 370 W budget is shared between the ports. It covers up to 12 devices in PoE+ at 30 W, or all 24 ports in standard PoE at 15.4 W: the actual consumption of the connected devices sets the split. PoE power is maintained during a switch reload, so connected devices do not switch off at every update.
A stack of eight, managed as one switch
With the FlexStack-Plus C2960X-STACK module, optional on this reference, eight Catalyst 2960-X switches come together under a single management address, with 80 Gbps between stack members. Ports are added as needs grow without multiplying the devices to configure, and an aggregated link can spread its cables across several switches in the stack.
Access security built into the switch
802.1X authentication, port security, dynamic ARP inspection and IPv4 and IPv6 access control lists filter what enters the network right at the wall socket. Quality of service with 8 queues per port keeps priority for voice and video.

Can this switch be stacked with other Catalyst 2960-X switches?
Yes, with the FlexStack-Plus C2960X-STACK module, optional on this reference: up to 8 switches brought together under a single management address, with 80 Gbps of stack bandwidth. Mixed with 2960-S switches, the stack drops to 4 members and 40 Gbps.
Can the Catalyst 2960X-24PS-L route between VLANs?
The LAN Base image supports static routing for both IPv4 and IPv6, with tables of 2,000 direct routes and 1,000 indirect routes. It is a Layer 2+ access switch, designed to distribute the network to workstations, not to replace a core router.
Can the power supply be made redundant in case of failure?
The switch has a single internal power supply, from 100 to 240 V. Redundancy is provided by the Cisco RPS 2300 external redundant power system, connected to the dedicated connector at the rear and sold separately.
How is this switch managed?
Through a web interface, from the command line (CLI) or via SNMP, with an RJ-45 or USB console and a dedicated 10/100 management port. It also integrates with Cisco Prime, Network Plug and Play and DNA Center to manage a fleet of several devices.
How much space should be planned in the rack?
