This product is covered for 3 years by a manufacturer's warranty (the brand's official warranty). Your iris.ma invoice serves as the warranty document: keep it safe.

A problem with your product? Don't worry: contact us by phone, WhatsApp or e-mail. Depending on the brand, we direct you either straight to the repairer appointed by the brand to fix your product, or to us — and we take care of the rest.

  • If a repair is possible, it is carried out free of charge.
  • If the product cannot be repaired, the brand offers an exchange for another product.

Frequently asked questions about this product

How is the 370 W of PoE+ shared across the 48 ports?
370 W shared by all 48 ports, in Class 4 (802.3af/at), i.e. up to 30 W per port. The budget fills up quickly: around thirty cameras at 12 W use almost all of it. The number of ports that can be powered is therefore not the limit, the power budget is.
How much electrical power does the R8N85A draw at full load?
480 W with PoE, compared with only 45 W with no powered device connected, on a 100-127 or 200-240 V input. This is the figure to use when sizing the UPS and the circuit in the network room: PoE weighs ten times more than the switch itself.
How many VLANs can this switch handle simultaneously?
512 active VLANs, with IDs taken from the 802.1Q range of 4,094 values. RPVST+ builds one spanning tree per VLAN, which improves the use of redundant links, and IGMP snooping restricts multicast streams to the ports concerned.
Do you have to configure each outlet before moving a workstation?
No: “colourless” ports dynamically assign the VLAN and access rights according to the user or device that connects, based on a local role. Office moves no longer require editing the port mapping one port at a time.
Can this model route between VLANs?
Yes, with static routing for IPv4 and IPv6, with a dual stack that runs both protocols in parallel. Segmenting the network into VLANs therefore does not mean sending every internal exchange up to the router or firewall.
How do you manage this switch across several sites?
Through Aruba Central, in the cloud or on-premises, which provides a single dashboard. Locally, the web interface and command line remain available, the Switch Multi-Edit software acts on several devices at once, and a REST API lets you automate configuration.
Does the embedded software require a subscription to work?
No: it is activated without a subscription. Deployment uses Zero Touch Provisioning — the switch fetches its own configuration the first time it is powered on —, so a preconfigured device can be shipped to a remote site without sending a technician.
What happens if the uplink is cut?
The SmartLink feature fails over to a backup link without building a full spanning tree, and 802.3ad LACP aggregation — up to eight groups — balances the load while surviving the loss of a cable. MSTP and RSTP remain available for conventional topologies.
What internal performance does this 48-port PoE model offer?
104 Gbps switching capacity, 77.3 Mpps and 1.9 µs latency at Gigabit. The core is built on a dual-core Arm Cortex-A9 at 1,016 MHz, 4 GB of DDR3 memory and 16 GB of eMMC memory — enough to handle an entire floor of workstations and access points.
How much rack depth does this PoE chassis need?
44.2 × 30.5 × 4.4 cm: 1U high, but more than 30 cm deep, as the PoE power supply takes up space. Check the usable depth of your rack before ordering — the non-PoE models in the same series are noticeably shorter.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
