This product is covered for 1 year by a manufacturer's warranty (the brand's official warranty). Your iris.ma invoice serves as the warranty document: keep it safe.

A problem with your product? Don't worry: contact us by phone, WhatsApp or e-mail. Depending on the brand, we direct you either straight to the repairer appointed by the brand to fix your product, or to us — and we take care of the rest.

Frequently asked questions about this product

Does the Aruba 6000 24G 4SFP switch power cameras and Wi-Fi access points over PoE?
No, this R8N88A model has no PoE: every camera, Wi-Fi access point or IP phone connected to it needs its own power supply. PoE versions exist elsewhere in the CX 6000 series, but this model is not one of them — a point to check before ordering.
Do you have to pay a subscription or licence to manage this switch?
No: the AOS-CX operating system is built in and requires no subscription to be activated. Management is through the web interface, the AOS-CX CLI, SNMP v1/v2c/v3 or the REST API, with a built-in Python script. The Aruba NetEdit orchestration tool, however, requires a separate software licence.
Can you use SFP modules from another brand in the 4 fibre slots?
Technically yes: UTM (Unsupported Transceiver Mode) lets you insert and enable any unlisted 1G transceiver or cable. Bear in mind, however, that a module used this way is covered by neither the warranty nor support. Genuine modules remain the safe choice if you want full coverage.
How many VLANs can you create and use at the same time?
The switch recognises all 4,094 802.1Q VLAN IDs and handles 512 active VLANs at the same time. The MVRP protocol adds dynamic VLAN learning and assignment, so you do not have to reconfigure each port by hand.
Can you aggregate several ports to speed up the link to a server or NAS?
Yes, with 802.3ad LACP: up to 8 aggregates of 8 links each, in static or dynamic groups, with a selectable load-balancing algorithm. On top of that, jumbo frames of up to 9,198 bytes speed up large backups and disaster recovery systems.
Does this switch do routing, or switching only?
It handles Layer 2 switching and static IPv4 and IPv6 routing, with static ARP, DNS, and ACL/QoS that can be applied to IPv6 traffic. The IPv4/IPv6 dual stack lets you prepare the move to IPv6 without changing equipment.
How do you prevent network loops and outages if a link goes down?
The switch supports RSTP, MSTP and RPVST+ (one tree per VLAN), UDLD, which shuts down a link that has become unidirectional before it creates a loop, and SmartLink to back up an active link with a standby link. Broadcast storm protection, with adjustable thresholds, rounds it all off.
Can you update the switch without taking the network down for half a day?
The dual flash image keeps a primary and a secondary system: the update is applied to one while the other remains available as a fallback. Hot-Patching lets you apply a patch on a standalone switch, and several configuration files can be stored side by side.
How can you monitor what is actually going through the network?
The switch features sFlow (RFC 3176), wire-speed sampling with no impact on performance, RMON monitoring, LLDP to map neighbouring devices, local and remote syslog logging, and port mirroring with up to 4 groups. SNMP traps also report when a transceiver is inserted or removed.
What security is there beyond management passwords?
Every Aruba CX 6000 includes a TPM module that verifies the platform's integrity and ensures it boots from a trusted AOS-CX combination. On top of that come 802.1X with RADIUS, port security, ACLs and several password-protected privilege levels, with logging of all access.
Does installation require a network technician on site?
Zero Touch Provisioning lets the switch retrieve its configuration at startup, and “colorless” ports automatically apply the right role and VLAN through local MAC authentication, instead of a port-by-port mapping that has to be created and then maintained over time.
How much rack space does it take up, and is it fanless?
It takes up 1U in a 19-inch rack, like the other 24- and 48-port models in the series. One point to note: the fanless model in the CX 6000 range is the 12-port one, not this one. It does, however, support IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet, which reduces power consumption during off-peak hours.
Is the Aruba R8N88A switch new and under warranty?
Yes: new equipment, sealed in its original packaging, supplied with its invoice, which serves as the warranty document for 1 year. The AOS-CX features are detailed in the manufacturer's datasheet (PDF).
