This product is covered for 3 years by a manufacturer's warranty (the brand's official warranty). Your iris.ma invoice serves as the warranty document: keep it safe.

  • If a repair is possible, it is carried out free of charge.

Frequently asked questions about this product

Does the CX 6000 48G R8N86A power devices over PoE?
No: this model number is the non-PoE version. Its 48 Gigabit ports carry data only, and the 4 1G SFP slots are used for uplinks. Cameras and access points that need power therefore require an injector, or the 370 W Class 4 PoE model in the same series.
How many VLANs can be active at the same time on a CX 6000?
512 simultaneous VLANs, with IDs taken from the full 802.1Q range of 4,094 values. RPVST+ builds one spanning tree per VLAN to make use of redundant links, and IGMP snooping avoids flooding every port with multicast traffic.
Do you have to assign each outlet to its VLAN manually?
No, “colourless” ports make that unnecessary: the VLAN and access rights are assigned dynamically to the user or device that connects, through a local role. There is no longer any need to keep a port/VLAN mapping up to date every time a workstation is moved.
Can this switch route between several subnets?
Yes, with static routing, for both IPv4 and IPv6, with a dual stack that runs both protocols in parallel. This lets two VLANs communicate without an external router, while preparing the transition to IPv6 without changing equipment.
How is a switch running AOS-CX managed?
In four ways: web interface, command line, Aruba Central in the cloud or on-premises, and the Switch Multi-Edit software to act on several devices at once. A built-in REST API also lets you automate configuration from your own scripts.
Does the switch software require a subscription?
No: the embedded software is activated without a subscription, and deployment is done through Zero Touch Provisioning — the switch retrieves its own configuration the first time it is powered on, which avoids sending a technician to each site.
Is there console access to regain control off the network?
Yes, through a USB-C console port, backed by a USB Type-A host port for a configuration or firmware USB flash drive. A laptop's USB-C cable is therefore enough to open the console, with no serial adapter to dig out of the bottom of your laptop bag.
What happens if the switch's uplink goes down?
The SmartLink feature provides link redundancy that is simple to configure: a second link takes over without building a full spanning tree. 802.3ad LACP aggregation, with up to eight groups, offers the other option — combined bandwidth and recovery if a cable is lost.
What performance and latency does this 48-port model offer?
104 Gbps switching capacity, 77.3 Mpps and 1.9 µs latency at Gigabit, with an 8,192-entry MAC address table. The processor is a dual-core Arm Cortex-A9 at 1,016 MHz, backed by 4 GB of DDR3 memory and 16 GB of eMMC memory.
How much space and power should you plan for the R8N86A?
44.2 × 24.7 × 4.4 cm, i.e. 1U in 19-inch format with a depth of 25 cm, and 44.2 W at most on a 100-127 or 200-240 V input. The rack-mount kit comes with the switch, which uses side-to-side airflow.
Are jumbo frames supported for backups?
Yes: jumbo frame support improves the performance of backups and large transfers, provided that servers and network cards are set to the same frame size. IPv4 and IPv6 access control lists filter traffic at the same time.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
