This product is covered for 3 years by a manufacturer's warranty (the brand's official warranty). Your iris.ma invoice serves as the warranty document: keep it safe.

A problem with your product? Don't worry: contact us by phone, WhatsApp or e-mail. Depending on the brand, we direct you either straight to the repairer appointed by the brand to fix your product, or to us — and we take care of the rest.

  • If a repair is possible, it is carried out free of charge.
  • If the product cannot be repaired, the brand offers an exchange for another product.

Frequently asked questions about this product

Does the 1930 48G JL685A power devices over PoE?
No: part number JL685A is the 48-port non-PoE model in the 1930 series. Its RJ45 ports carry data only. The JL686A model, on the other hand, adds Class 4 PoE with a 370 W budget. In return, this chassis does without a fan entirely.
Can a 48-port switch really run without a fan?
Yes: the 24- and 48-port non-PoE models in the 1930 series are designed without fans, rated at 0 dB. This model consumes 36.9 W maximum and 16.8 W at idle, which can be dissipated passively — so it can be installed in an office or a meeting room.
What speed do the 4 uplinks on this model reach?
They are 1G/10G SFP+ slots: they accept either a Gigabit module or a 10 Gigabit module, so you can start at 1G and then move up to 10G without changing the switch. Essential when 48 access ports feed into a single network core.
How many VLANs can be created, and in what ID range?
256 simultaneous VLANs, with IDs between 2 and 4093: the range is wide, but the number of active networks is capped at 256. A dedicated management VLAN restricts access to the interface, and the auto voice VLAN recognises IP phones to prioritise their traffic.
Can this switch route between two VLANs?
Yes, with static IPv4 routing: each VLAN is given its address, manually or via DHCP, and the switch forwards traffic from one to the other, up to a limit of 32 static entries. This is what sets Layer 2+ apart from a basic switch.
How many link aggregation groups does this 48-port model accept?
Sixteen groups, of up to eight ports each, using LACP or static configuration — twice as many as the 24-port models. Enough to balance the load of several servers and secure the uplink, which then survives the loss of a cable.
Which IP address should you use at first power-on?
The switch starts as a DHCP client and takes the address provided by the router; with no DHCP server on the link, it takes the fixed address 192.168.1.1. The local web interface accepts up to five simultaneous HTTP or HTTPS sessions.
Is a licence needed for Instant On cloud management?
No: all features are included in the price of the hardware, with no licence or subscription. Management is done through the mobile app, the hosted web portal or the switch's local web interface, the latter requiring no internet access.
What filtering rules can be applied on this switch?
Up to 50 ingress IPv4 and MAC access control lists, totalling 480 rules, which can be applied to a port or a VLAN from the local web interface. They work alongside 802.1X with RADIUS-assigned VLANs, the per-port allow list and DHCP snooping.
Are jumbo frames supported for large transfers?
Yes, up to 9,216 bytes, which reduces the number of packets during a NAS backup or replication — provided the servers and network cards are set to the same size. The MAC address table holds 16,000 entries.
How much rack space does the JL685A take up, and how much power does it use?
44.25 × 28.24 × 4.39 cm and 3.13 kg, i.e. 1U in a 19-inch rack, 28 cm deep. Allow 36.9 W maximum and 16.8 W at idle, on a 100-127 or 200-240 V input. The four SFP+ slots are empty out of the box: plan for optical modules.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment with a 3-year warranty, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The manufacturer's document details the Instant On 1930 series and compares its seven models, PoE and non-PoE: datasheet (PDF).
