Can the RG-RAP52-OD be powered by a mains adapter?
No, it has no DC power input: PoE is the only power option, in 802.3af as well as 802.3at, for less than 13.5 W. A PoE injector or switch is therefore essential, and no adapter is supplied in the box.
What exactly does this outdoor access point's IP65 rating protect against?
It guarantees complete protection against dust and resistance to water jets — the access point is tested under a spray of 12.5 litres per minute at 2.5 m. On top of this come ±4 kV lightning protection and 15 kV electrostatic protection on the network port.
Are the RG-RAP52-OD's antennas replaceable?
Yes, they can be removed and replaced, using the SMA standard. The two supplied 185 mm antennas are omnidirectional — 3 dBi on 2.4 GHz and 4 dBi on 5 GHz. A directional antenna can take their place to focus the signal on a specific aisle, loading dock or terrace.
How far does this outdoor access point's signal really reach?
The stated maximum range is 400 m on the 5 GHz band and 300 m on 2.4 GHz, in open space. A wall, a line of trees or a building reduce it considerably: these values are for comparing models, not for sizing an installation without a site survey.
How many devices does the RG-RAP52-OD serve at the same time?
80 devices recommended: 16 on the 2.4 GHz band and 64 on the 5 GHz band. That is the scale of a café terrace, a school playground or a car park, not that of a very crowded public space.
How is the RG-RAP52-OD mounted, and are the necessary parts supplied?
On a wall or a pole: the package contains the access point, two antennas, two clamps, a bracket, a screw kit with wall plugs, the guide and the warranty card. The housing measures 220 × 50 × 35.7 mm and weighs 400 g, excluding antennas.
What Wi-Fi encryption does this access point support?
WPA2 (AES), WPA (TKIP) and WPA-PSK, with shared-key authentication and static allow or block lists. WPA3-SAE and OWE are not supported on this model: bear this in mind if your security policy requires WPA3.
Can the RG-RAP52-OD act as a router for a remote site?
Yes, it operates in access point mode or router mode, with a DHCP server, address translation, static IP address and PPPoE connection. A villa, a shop or a construction site can therefore rely on it alone to carry the connection.
Can a distant area be covered without running a network cable to it?
Yes, with Reyee Mesh: a second access point connects wirelessly to the cabled one, and mesh management is built in. It still needs its PoE power supply on site, but the network cable no longer has to be run.
How can several outdoor access points be managed remotely?
Through Ruijie Cloud and the Reyee app, or locally from the web interface. A self-organising network supports up to 300 access points, and WIO optimisation adjusts channels and transmit power, showing the values before and after adjustment.
Can guest access be limited in time or bandwidth?
Yes, the access point has a built-in standalone captive portal, which displays a landing page before access is granted, and bandwidth limiting per user. Up to 8 Wi-Fi networks can coexist, each with its own VLAN and Layer 2 client isolation.
Can this access point withstand winter cold and summer heat?
It operates from -30 to +65 °C and can be stored from -40 to +75 °C, with 10 to 95% non-condensing humidity. A façade in full sun or a mast exposed to frost therefore remain within its operating range.
Can the RG-RAP52-OD power a camera from its network port?
No, it has no PoE output and has only a single 10/100/1000 Base-T port, which serves both for its power supply and its network link. A camera installed nearby must therefore be connected to a PoE port on the switch.
Is the equipment new and under warranty?
