How long do the Endurance Peak 4 last with noise cancelling on?
8 hours from the earbuds alone with noise cancelling on, compared with 12 hours with it switched off. The advertised 48 hours are the total with the case, with noise cancelling off: 8 hours is the figure to remember for everyday use.
What if the battery runs out before a workout?
10 minutes of charging gives you 4 hours of playback. The case itself fully charges in 2 hours from empty and recharges the earbuds three times — enough to cover a week of training.
Can you rinse them after a workout?
The earbuds are rated IP68, the highest rating in the standard: water, sweat and dust are stated to have no effect on them. They are therefore designed for intense exercise and the outdoors, where a lower rating calls for precautions.
How do they stay in place during exercise?
With a TwistLock ear hook with memory wire, which you bend once to fit the shape of your ear. Each earbud weighs 10.5 g — weight carried by the hook rather than by the ear canal.
Can you stay aware of traffic while running?
Yes, with Ambient Aware mode: it lets outside sounds back in without you having to remove the earbuds. Adaptive noise cancelling does the opposite when you want to focus in the gym.
How are calls handled?
By six microphones spread across the two earbuds. It is this number that makes it possible to separate your voice from background noise: a single mic gets drowned out as soon as you take a call while walking or mid-workout.
Can you connect them to two devices at once?
Yes, multipoint connection handles two Bluetooth devices simultaneously: a workout video on your tablet no longer stops you from taking a call coming in on your phone, with no re-pairing each time you switch.
Can you attach the case to a bag?
Yes, it has a lanyard hole for that purpose. It is the simplest way to avoid leaving the case on a changing-room bench, a classic slip with sports earbuds.
