Frequently asked questions about this product

Is the wall mount supplied with the Epson EB-685Wi?
Yes, the wall mount is included in the box, along with the two interactive pens, their pen holder, the USB cable, the power cable, the remote control and its batteries. It is the installation method intended for this model: mounted on the wall, just above the board.
How far from the wall is the EB-685Wi mounted for a 100-inch image?
About 60 cm — 40 cm for a 60-inch image. Its ultra-short-throw lens, with a ratio of 0.28 to 0.37:1, projects a large image from very close: the presenter does not cross the beam, with no shadow cast and no glare.
Can two people write at the same time on the EB-685Wi?
Yes, the two supplied pens work simultaneously. A teacher and a student, or two students, work on the same image with different pen settings. Annotation works even with no computer connected to the projector.
Do the EB-685Wi's pen tips wear out?
Yes, they are wear parts: replacement felt and Teflon tips are among the accessories available for this model. Felt glides more smoothly over the surface, Teflon lasts longer — it is a consumable to budget for in a heavily used room.
Does the EB-685Wi work with a Mac or a Linux computer?
Yes. Supported systems include Windows 10, 8 and 8.1, macOS 10.7 to 10.10, as well as Linux and several versions of Ubuntu, including 16.04 LTS. Easy Interactive Tools software comes with the unit for annotation.
Can the teacher choose which screen is displayed with the EB-685Wi?
Yes, with the Moderator function of the multi-PC projection software: participants' computers share their content and the teacher decides what appears. The split-screen function displays two pieces of content side by side, for example a lesson plan and a video.
Can two EB-685Wi units be combined to cover an entire wall?
Yes. Two projectors can be combined to create a single large interactive display area, each keeping its own pens. It is the intended solution when a room needs a wider working surface than a 100-inch board.
Does the EB-685Wi accept a microphone for the teacher?
Yes, a microphone input is provided, and the built-in speaker delivers 16 W: the voice goes through the projector, with no separate sound system. The connectivity also includes three HDMI inputs, two VGA inputs, Ethernet and MHL for a mobile device.
Is Wi-Fi built into the EB-685Wi?
It is optional: wireless projection and the iProjection app — including from a Chromebook — require the wireless network unit, to be purchased in addition. For wired use, the built-in Ethernet port is enough to connect the unit to the school's network.
Does the EB-685Wi have to be aligned precisely in front of the board?
Yes, mechanical alignment must be done carefully: its keystone correction covers only ± 3°, as on any ultra-short-throw projector. On the other hand, pen calibration is automatic and brightness adjusts itself to the room's lighting.
What brightness and noise level can you expect from the EB-685Wi in a classroom?
3,500 lumens in white and colour alike, 2,900 lumens in eco mode, with a 14,000:1 contrast ratio — readable in broad daylight. The noise level stays at 35 dB(A) in normal mode and drops to 29 dB(A) in Eco2 mode, with a power consumption of 354 W.
Is the EB-685Wi interactive projector new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. Plan a mounting suited to its 5.9 kg for 367 × 400 × 149 mm, and quote reference V11H741040 for any part or pen tip.
