Frequently asked questions about this product

Are the 48 ports on the TL-SF1048 Gigabit?
No: they are 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet. It is an affordable patching switch for a high density of computers, printers and terminals that do not need Gigabit.
Can the TL-SF1048 be configured, and does it provide PoE?
No to both: it is unmanaged and supplies no power. No VLANs and no management interface: you mount it in the rack, patch it and it switches. Cameras and Wi-Fi access points will need to be powered some other way.
Does this switch need an external power adapter?
No: the mains power supply is built in, at 100-240 V and 50-60 Hz. A single cord to run through the rack, with no transformer, for 9.9 W maximum — remarkable for 48 active ports.
What performance does this 48-port switch offer?
9.6 Gbps switching capacity and 7.14 Mpps, with an 8,000-entry MAC address table in store-and-forward mode. Enough to handle 48 active ports simultaneously on a 100 Mbps network.
Do you need crossover cables between two devices?
No: auto MDI/MDIX corrects the crossover on its own, and auto-negotiation sets the speed and duplex. An ordinary straight-through cable is enough to connect a computer, another switch or a router.
How much rack space does the TL-SF1048 take up?
1U, at 440 × 180 × 44 mm. At 18 cm deep, it also fits in a wall-mounted network cabinet, which is rare for a 48-port switch.
What temperature range does this switch operate in?
0 to 40 °C, at 10 to 90% relative humidity, with heat dissipation of only 33.78 BTU/h. It therefore runs cool, even in a closed, moderately ventilated cabinet.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The TL-SF1048 comes with its power cord and carries FCC, CE and RoHS certification.
