How many ports on the TL-SG1005P are PoE-powered?
Four out of five, with a total budget of 56 W to the 802.3af standard — i.e. about 15 W per port if all four are loaded. The fifth port serves as the uplink to the router, with no power.
Can this switch power a motorised camera?
It uses the 802.3af standard, i.e. up to 15.4 W per port at the switch output — enough for a fixed camera, an IP phone or an entry-level Wi-Fi access point. Devices that require 30 W PoE+ need an 802.3at model.
Can this switch be configured?
No: it is unmanaged, with no interface and no settings. You plug it in and it powers devices. Auto MDI/MDI-X corrects the pinout on its own, whether the cable is straight-through or crossover, which avoids any mistakes when connecting the cameras.
How much electrical power does this small switch draw?
63.31 W maximum, including the 56 W of PoE, on a 48 V input. The power cord and the quick start guide come with the switch in the box.
How much space does this switch take up, and what performance does it offer?
99.8 × 97.8 × 25 mm, the size of a deck of cards, with 10 Gbps switching capacity and a 2,000-entry MAC address table. It is an add-on unit, to be placed near the cameras or the access point it powers.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. This is the TP-Link TL-SG1005P, a five-port unmanaged PoE switch designed to power a few devices without an electrician or any configuration.
