Frequently asked questions about this product

How many ports on the TL-SF1008LP provide PoE?
Four of the eight ports, with a total budget of 41 W. The other four take devices that already have their own power and the link to the router. It is the typical format for a small video surveillance installation.
Are the ports on the TL-SF1008LP Gigabit?
No: they are 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet. For entry-level cameras and IP phones, this speed is enough; for a video recorder receiving several high-definition streams, a Gigabit model is a must.
Does this PoE switch make any noise?
No: it is fanless, so it runs silently. Its desktop casing measures 171 × 98 × 27 mm and sits next to the router or in a small cabinet.
Do you need to configure this switch?
No: it is unmanaged. No web interface and no VLANs to set up: PoE switches on by itself when a compatible device is detected, and auto MDI/MDI-X does away with crossover cables.
What power supply does the TL-SF1008LP need?
A 53.5 V DC input at 0.81 A, from a 220 V, 50 Hz mains socket. It is this high voltage that makes PoE delivery possible: the original power supply cannot be replaced with an ordinary adapter.
What performance does this switch offer?
1.6 Gbps switching capacity in store-and-forward mode, with a 2,000-entry MAC address table that is learned and refreshed automatically — the size you would expect for eight Fast Ethernet ports.
What temperature range does this switch operate in?
0 to 40 °C, at 10 to 90% relative humidity. Like any PoE switch, it gives off heat under load: leave it some free air rather than shutting it in against a wall or under a stack of equipment.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The TL-SF1008LP has a black casing, is FCC, CE and RoHS certified, and has status LEDs on the front.
