Frequently asked questions about this product
The LEGEND 710 comes in 256 GB and 2 TB: are the speeds the same?
No. The 2 TB version is rated at 2,400 MB/s read and 1,800 MB/s write; the 256 GB version at 2,100 and 1,000 MB/s. The clearest gap is in writing, where the larger capacity is almost twice as fast. Keep this in mind when choosing your capacity.
What write endurance does each capacity offer?
520 TB on the 2 TB version and 65 TB on the 256 GB version. Relative to the size of the drive, that works out at about 260 full drive writes in both cases. SSD Toolbox shows at any time how much of this endurance has already been used and the remaining lifespan.
Is the heatsink supplied with the drive?
Yes, and it lowers the temperature by about 15%, which helps the drive sustain its speeds during prolonged use. It brings the thickness to 3.13 mm and the weight to 9 g, compared with 2.15 mm and 6.2 g without it: check the clearance under the laptop cover or under the M.2 shield before ordering.
Can this SSD encrypt the data it stores?
Yes, it supports 256-bit AES hardware encryption, performed by the drive itself. This is rare on a consumer NVMe drive, and it protects the contents if the computer is lost or stolen. In parallel, LDPC error correction ensures the accuracy of the data transferred.
Can Windows and its software be carried over from the old drive?
Yes. ADATA provides a free migration utility designed to copy the contents of an entire drive — operating system included — to the LEGEND 710. You then boot from the new SSD without having reinstalled or reconfigured anything.
Which computers can this Gen3 drive be installed in?
In any M.2 2280 slot — 22 mm by 80 mm — wired for PCIe NVMe, on recent Intel and AMD platforms, in desktops and laptops alike. The drive complies with the NVMe 1.4 standard and is built on a Realtek RTS5766DL controller with SLC caching and Host Memory Buffer.
What random IOPS does the 2 TB version deliver?
200,000 read and 150,000 write on 4 KB blocks, compared with 90,000 and 130,000 for the 256 GB version. It is these small accesses, more than the headline sequential speeds, that determine how responsive the system feels at startup and when opening applications.
Under what conditions can this SSD operate?
From 0 to 70 °C in operation and from -40 to 85 °C when powered off, with shock resistance of 1,500 G for 0.5 ms. The rated mean time between failures is 1,500,000 hours. With no moving parts, the drive is unaffected by vibration and completely silent.
Is the drive new, and how long is the warranty?
It is new and covered for 1 year, with your invoice serving as the warranty document. This cover runs for the stated period or until the rated write endurance is used up, whichever comes first. The datasheet gives the details by capacity.
Simple upgrade for a laptop or a tower: 5,000 MB/s read and 3,000 MB/s write, host memory buffer and SLC cache. 160 TB written of endurance and PlayStation 5 compatibility.
Built for 3D rendering and 4K editing: 7,000 MB/s read, 3,900 MB/s write, Phison E18 controller and DRAM cache. The low-profile aluminium-graphene heatsink prevents throughput dropping under sustained load.
7,200 MB/s read and 4,400 MB/s write in a 6 g module just 2.45 mm thick. 500 TB written endurance, no moving parts and proven resistance to shock and vibration.
2,500 MB/s read and 1,025 MB/s write, with no moving parts at all: the shock- and drop-resistant design protects the data. 3D NAND memory and TRIM command support to hold the speeds over time.
