What does the GWN7660's OFDMA bring to an office where everyone is connecting?
It works on both downlink and uplink: instead of serving devices one after another, the access point divides each channel and serves several of them in the same time slot. This is what keeps a floor full of smartphones, laptops and printers running without each one waiting its turn.
How many devices can the GWN7660 serve at the same time?
256 concurrent Wi-Fi clients per access point, for a combined data rate of 1.77 Gbps: 1,201 Mbps on the 5 GHz band and 573.5 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. Beyond that, several access points work together under the same controller.
Is a basic PoE switch enough to power the GWN7660?
Yes, with plenty to spare: the access point draws 9 W at most, while an 802.3af port supplies 15.4 W. It detects on its own whether it is connected to PoE or PoE+ and adapts its power, with no configuration and no power adapter.
Does the GWN7660 support WPA3 encryption?
Yes, in addition to WPA2-PSK and WPA/WPA2 Enterprise with TKIP or AES. The hardware also boots on digitally signed firmware, and each access point leaves the factory with its own certificate and its own random password.
How many separate Wi-Fi networks can the GWN7660 broadcast?
32 SSIDs in total, 16 per band, each with its own captive portal, bandwidth limits and VLAN. Enough to cleanly separate the staff network, the visitor network and the IoT network on a single access point.
Do you need a controller to manage several GWN7660 units?
No. A controller is built into the web interface of the access point and manages up to 50 access points of the GWN range on the local network, with no licence. GWN.Cloud manages an unlimited number of devices free of charge, and GWN Manager, installed on your own servers, scales up to 3,000 access points.
What channel width does the GWN7660 use on the 5 GHz band?
20, 40 or 80 MHz on the 5 GHz band, and 20 or 40 MHz on 2.4 GHz. The 1,201 Mbps is therefore reached at 80 MHz thanks to Wi-Fi 6 and modulation, without resorting to 160 MHz channels, which quickly saturate a dense environment.
What is the GWN7660's second Ethernet port for?
Both ports are 10/100/1000 Mbps auto-sensing: the first connects the access point to the network and receives PoE, the second serves a nearby wired device — desktop PC, printer or small switch — without running another cable up to the ceiling.
Is this access point suitable for Wi-Fi IP phones and video conferencing?
Yes. Advanced QoS (802.11e/WMM, VLAN, TOS) reserves bandwidth for real-time traffic and keeps latency low: Wi-Fi IP phones and video meetings are the stated use cases.

Can the GWN7660 cope with a somewhat warm equipment room?
Its operating range runs from 0 to 45 °C, with 10 to 90% non-condensing humidity — five degrees more headroom than most indoor access points. It is still designed for indoor use: an installation exposed to rain calls for an outdoor model.
Can you add an access point where no network cable reaches?
Yes, GWN access points form a mesh network: an additional access point connects wirelessly to the cabled one. It still has to be powered on site, but no network cable needs to be run to it.
