What speeds does the PV593 reach in its 1 TB version?

14,000 MB/s read and 10,000 MB/s write sequential. The 13,000 MB/s write sometimes associated with this model applies to the higher capacities: on the 1 TB, it is indeed 10,000 MB/s. Read speed, on the other hand, is the same across the whole range.

Do you need to plan for cooling with this Gen5 SSD?

Patriot strongly recommends it to achieve the advertised performance. The 6 nm SM2508 controller and its intelligent thermal management already limit heat build-up, but a Gen5 drive pushed to 14,000 MB/s gives off a lot of heat: the motherboard's M.2 heatsink really earns its place here.

Does this Gen5 SSD work on a PCIe 4.0 or 3.0 motherboard?

Yes, it is rated fully backward compatible with PCIe 4.0 and 3.0 systems. Speeds are then capped by the motherboard's bus, not by the drive: it is a way to buy a drive today that will show its full potential in your next machine.

What difference does DirectStorage make to game loading?

It is a Microsoft technology that the PV593 fully supports: it greatly shortens loading times by letting game data travel from the drive to the graphics card without unnecessary detours. Rendering is smoother as a result, with less waiting between two areas.

Does the PV593 have its own buffer memory?

Yes, an external 1 GB DDR4 buffer, backed by dynamic SLC caching. This dedicated reserve avoids borrowing the PC's RAM and helps the drive keep pace during long transfers and heavy multitasking.

How many terabytes written can the 1 TB version handle?

700 TB, or 700 full drive writes. The 3,000 TB figure sometimes quoted for this model belongs to the 4 TB capacity, not this one. The memory is 3D TLC, protected by 4K LDPC error correction.

How good are its 4 KB random IOPS?

1,650,000 for both read and write at this 1 TB capacity. These small accesses are what make things feel smooth: system boot, switching between heavy applications, multitrack editing. The 2,000,000 read IOPS sometimes advertised apply to the higher capacities.

Which operating systems support the PV593?

Windows 7, 8.0, 8.1, 10 and 11. On Windows 7 and 8.0, an NVMe driver may be needed before the drive is recognised. The standard followed is NVMe 2.0, the latest, over a PCIe Gen5 x4 interface in the M.2 2280 form factor.

Is the drive new and under warranty?

It is new and your invoice serves as the warranty document. It carries the reference PV593P1TBM28H, to be quoted for any return, and weighs 11 g for 80 by 22 by 3.8 mm. The datasheet lists all the values.
