Can the GWN7604 power other devices over PoE?
Yes, two of its Gigabit ports provide PoE output, with a total budget of 12 W shared between them. Enough to power an IP phone and a small sensor — but not two motorised cameras: the budget is split, not doubled.
What power supply do you need for the GWN7604?
A PoE 802.3af or PoE+ 802.3at port on its uplink: the access point itself draws only 7.5 W, not counting PoE output. Add the 12 W of PoE passthrough to your switch's budget calculation if you use it.
How many network ports does the GWN7604 provide?
Four Gigabit ports: one uplink port that receives PoE and connects the access point to the network, two ports that provide PoE output, and a fourth data port. The access point thus replaces a small switch in a room.
What difference does the 3x3 on the GWN7604's 5 GHz band make?
Three radio chains on the 5 GHz band — versus two on 2.4 GHz —, served by two dual-band antennas and one antenna dedicated to 5 GHz. The data rate there reaches 2,402 Mbps, for an advertised combined rate of 3 Gbps.
How many devices does the GWN7604 serve at the same time?
More than 256 concurrent clients, with advertised coverage of up to 100 metres in open space. That is the right size for a small hotel, a shop or a practice.
Does the GWN7604 support WPA3?
Yes, in addition to WPA2-PSK and WPA/WPA2 Enterprise with TKIP or AES. The hardware boots on signed firmware, and each access point leaves the factory with its own certificate and its own random password.
How many Wi-Fi networks can you create on the GWN7604?
32 SSIDs in total, 16 per band, with a captive portal for visitors and VLAN segmentation. A guest room, a department and public access can thus coexist on the same access point.
Do you need a hardware controller to manage several GWN7604 units?
No. A controller is built into the access point and manages up to 50 access points of the GWN series locally, with no licence. GDMS Networking manages an unlimited number of devices in the cloud free of charge, and GWN Manager scales up to 3,000 access points on your own servers.
How much wall space does the GWN7604 take up?
135 × 115 × 30 mm: one of the most compact access points in the category, despite its four ports. It mounts on the wall with the supplied indoor bracket, close to the devices it serves.
