Does the IP54 rating also cover the charging case?
No: the earbuds are IP54-certified, the case only IPX2. So the earbuds can handle the beach and the cycle path; the case only tolerates a few drops and is best kept sheltered in a bag.
How long do the JBL Wave Flex last?
8 hours of playback in the earbuds and 24 more hours in the case, i.e. 32 hours in total. If you forget to charge them, 10 minutes of charging gives you 2 hours of playback — enough to cover a last-minute trip.
Do these earbuds block the ear?
No: they use a bud-on-stem design that does not block the ear. You stay aware of your surroundings — a safety point outdoors, and a comfort for those who find in-ear tips tiring.
Can you talk to someone without removing the earbuds?
Yes, with TalkThru: it instantly makes your voice and the voices of those around you audible. Ambient Aware meets a different need — keeping the music playing while staying alert to what is going on around you.
Can you adjust the volume of your own voice during a call?
Yes, that is the role of VoiceAware: during a hands-free stereo call, you balance the volume of your voice in your earbuds. This stops you from speaking too loudly without realising it.
How good are the 12 mm drivers?
12 mm is a generous diameter for an earbud: a larger diaphragm moves more air, which gives the bass more body — hence the JBL Deep Bass signature. A sensible choice for a design that does not seal the ear canal.
What's in the box of the Wave Flex?
A pair of earbuds, the charging case, a USB Type-C charging cable, a warranty booklet and a quick start guide. As the cable is included, you need nothing else for the first charge.
Are they light to wear?
3.8 g per earbud — among the lightest in their category. At this weight, and with no tip pushed into the ear canal, you forget they are there during extended listening at the office or on the move.
Can you adjust the sound to your taste?
Yes, via the dedicated JBL Headphones app, which lets you adjust the sound. The earbuds work without it: the app is for personalising them, not for getting them up and running.
Are these JBL earbuds new and under warranty?
