Is the PoE adapter included with the EAP245?

Yes, the PoE adapter and its power cord are included, along with the mounting kit and the quick start guide. The access point accepts 802.3af active PoE as well as passive PoE, for a typical consumption of 12.3 W.

Does the EAP245 broadcast on the 6 GHz band?

No, it is dual-band: 1,300 Mbps on 5 GHz and 450 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, in Wi-Fi 5. The 6 GHz band belongs to Wi-Fi 6E, a more recent generation; compatible devices will connect here on the 5 GHz band.

What difference does the EAP245's three-stream MU-MIMO make?

The access point works with three streams per band and serves several devices in parallel rather than one after the other. That is what takes throughput up to 1,300 Mbps on the 5 GHz band, a high level for Wi-Fi 5.

What is the EAP245's second Ethernet port for?

Both ports are 10/100/1000 Mbps: the first connects the access point to the network and receives PoE, the second serves a nearby wired device — desktop PC, printer or small switch — which saves running a second cable up to the ceiling.

How many Wi-Fi networks can you create on the EAP245?

16 SSIDs, with a VLAN per SSID, rate limiting and client isolation. The visitor network thus stays separate from the company network, with no additional hardware.

What Wi-Fi encryption does the EAP245 support?

WPA2 and WPA2-PSK, with MAC address filtering and port-based network access control — in other words 802.1X authentication, where each user identifies themselves to a server rather than with a shared key.

How do you manage several EAP245 units without additional hardware?

With the Omada software controller installed on a computer, or with the OC200 and OC300 hardware controllers and cloud access. The access point also has a web interface and a remote system log for troubleshooting.

Are the EAP245's antennas visible?

No, they are internal and omnidirectional, with a maximum gain of 4 dBi, fully integrated into the white enclosure. The access point measures 205.4 × 181.6 × 38 mm and mounts on the ceiling or the wall.

Can you secure the EAP245 against theft?

Yes, the access point has an anti-theft cable slot, useful in premises open to the public. A reset button and a power LED complete the front panel.

Does the EAP245 choose its channel by itself?

Yes, it provides automatic channel selection and automatic channel scanning: it identifies the least congested frequencies at power-up, with no intervention. WMM quality of service is also supported.

Under what conditions does the EAP245 operate?

Indoors, between 0 and 40 °C, at 10 to 90% humidity. That is the standard range for an office access point: a ventilated equipment room suits it, while an installation exposed to the weather calls for an outdoor model.

Is the equipment new and under warranty?

Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document for 1 year. The access point is CE, FCC and RoHS certified and fits into the Omada ecosystem alongside the range's switches and gateways.
