Frequently asked questions about this product

How many ports on the TL-SG1008P deliver PoE power?
Four out of eight, with a total budget of 55 W under the 802.3af standard — about 13 W per port if all four are loaded. The other four ports carry data only.
Can this switch power a motorised camera?
It applies the 802.3af standard, i.e. up to 15.4 W per port at the switch output: that covers a fixed camera, an IP phone or an entry-level access point. Devices that require 30 W PoE+ need an 802.3at model.
How much electrical power does this switch require?
65.24 W at most, including the 55 W of PoE, on a 48 V, 1.25 A input. The power adapter and the power cord come with the switch, along with the user guide.
Does this switch need to be configured?
No: it is plug-and-play, with no interface or settings. Automatic MAC address learning and updating, auto MDI/MDI-X and flow control work on their own as soon as it is powered on.
What performance and footprint does this 8-port model offer?
16 Gbps switching capacity and a 4,000-entry MAC address table, in store-and-forward mode. The case measures 171 × 98 × 27 mm and operates from 0 to 40 °C, at 10 to 90% humidity.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. This is the TP-Link TL-SG1008P, CE, FCC and RoHS certified, an eight-port desktop PoE switch with four powered ports.
