What difference does the GWN7625's 4x4 on the 5 GHz band make?
Four radio chains on the 5 GHz band — against two on 2.4 GHz — served by six internal antennas. Throughput reaches 1,733 Mbps there, for a combined 2.03 Gbps, and the access point communicates with more devices in parallel.
Is a basic PoE switch enough for the GWN7625?
Yes: its power consumption stays below 13 W, under the 15.4 W of an 802.3af port. The access point detects on its own whether it is connected to PoE or PoE+ and adjusts its power accordingly, and it supports the 802.3az energy-saving standard.
How many devices can the GWN7625 serve at the same time?
200 simultaneous Wi-Fi clients, with a stated range of up to 165 m in open space. That is the scale of a shop, a restaurant, a practice or a small hotel.
Do you need a hardware controller to manage several GWN7625 units?
No. A controller is built into the web interface of the access point and manages up to 30 access points (local GWN units), with no licence — a lower limit than on the higher-end models. GWN.Cloud manages an unlimited number of devices free of charge.
Does the GWN7625 support WPA3?
Yes, in addition to WPA2-PSK and WPA/WPA2 Enterprise with TKIP or AES. The hardware boots on signed firmware, and each access point leaves the factory with its own certificate and its own random password.
How many Wi-Fi networks can you create on the GWN7625?
16 SSIDs in total, 8 per band, with 802.1Q VLAN tagging, 802.1x authentication and a captive portal. Enough to keep staff, visitors and the till separate on a single access point.
What is the GWN7625's second Ethernet port for?
Both ports are auto-sensing 10/100/1000 Mbps: the first connects the access point to the network and receives PoE, the second serves a nearby wired device — desktop computer, printer or small extra switch.
Is this access point suitable for Wi-Fi IP phones?
Yes. Advanced QoS (802.11e/WMM, VLAN, TOS) reserves bandwidth for real-time traffic, and fast roaming prevents dropped calls when the user moves from one access point to another.
What channel width does the GWN7625 use?
20, 40 or 80 MHz on the 5 GHz band and 20 or 40 MHz on 2.4 GHz. The 1,733 Mbps is therefore reached at 80 MHz thanks to the four spatial streams, without using 160 MHz channels, which quickly saturate a dense environment.
What is in the box, and where does the GWN7625 mount?
The access point, the wall and ceiling mounting kits and the installation guide. The housing measures 205.3 mm per side and weighs 530 g, with three tri-colour LEDs and a Kensington lock slot against theft.
Can the GWN7625 cope with a hot equipment room?
Its operating range is 0 to 50 °C, with 10 to 90% non-condensing humidity — ten degrees more headroom than the average indoor access point. It is still designed for indoor use.
Is the equipment new and under warranty?
