How far from the ZyXEL GS1350-12HP can a camera be placed?
Up to 250 m in extended range mode, compared with 100 m on a standard Ethernet link. This is the GS1350 series' strong point in video surveillance: the camera at the far end of the site stays powered without an intermediate repeater.
How are the ports on this switch split?
10 Gigabit PoE+ ports and 2 SFP slots, twelve in total. The ten copper sockets power cameras, phones or access points; the two optical slots provide the link to the recorder or the network core.
What PoE budget does the GS1350-12HP offer?
130 W in total, up to 30 W per port with PoE+ 802.3at. Ten ordinary fixed cameras fit within this budget; four motorised cameras at full power would already exhaust it.
What can you configure on this switch?
VLANs, quality of service and SNMP monitoring, on a smart managed model. You can isolate the camera network and monitor the status of each powered port from a console.
How much power should you allow for this switch?
