How far does the AP162E protrude from the wall?
The housing measures 86 × 86 mm with a depth of 42.5 mm, most of which sits inside the flush-mounting box: only 8 mm remain visible beyond the wall. It has the format of a standard wall socket, and weighs 140 g.
What power supply do you need for the AP162E?
A PoE 802.3af port is enough: the access point draws 9.1 W at most, well below the standard's 15.4 W. A single network cable carries power and data all the way to the wall, with no power outlet needed in the room.
What is the AP162E's second Ethernet port for?
The access point has an uplink port, which receives the incoming network connection and PoE, and a downlink port at 100 Mbps or Gigabit, which serves a wired device in the room — desktop computer, TV or phone.
How many devices does the AP162E accept?
Up to 128, with a throughput of 2,400 Mbps on the 5 GHz band and 575 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. It is sized for a bedroom, an office or a treatment room — not for a reception lobby.
What do the AP162E's smart antennas do?
They adjust the direction of the signal on their own according to the environment and to movement, with no manual adjustment. Their gain reaches 3 dBi on 2.4 GHz and 2 dBi on 5 GHz, all built into the wall plate.
Does the AP162E support WPA3?
Yes, with WPA3 and 802.1X authentication, where each user identifies themselves with a server rather than with a shared key. 802.11k, v and r roaming keeps the connection going from one room to the next.
Do you need a controller to deploy AP162E access points in a hotel?
The access point is managed via the HUAWEI eKit app and the SNC cloud platform, or in Fit AP mode behind a controller, using the CAPWAP protocol. The choice is made at deployment, without changing hardware.
Can the AP162E be installed at high altitude?
Yes, up to 5,000 m, with the maximum permitted temperature dropping by 1 °C for every 300 m above 1,800 m. Its nominal range is 0 to 40 °C, with 5 to 95% non-condensing humidity.
Can you hide a Wi-Fi network on the AP162E?
Yes, each SSID can be hidden individually, and U-APSD power saving spares the battery of connected devices. The network name can also include non-Latin characters.
Is the equipment new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document for one year. The manufacturer's full specifications are in this document: AP162E (PDF).
