Frequently asked questions about this product

Is an 802.3af PoE switch enough for the NWA50BE?
No, 802.3af is not supported: you need a PoE+ 802.3at port, or 802.3bt, for unrestricted operation. The access point draws 16 W over PoE. A power adapter is included, however, so you can do without PoE.
Does this Wi-Fi 7 access point broadcast on the 6 GHz band?
No, the NWA50BE is dual-band: 4,324 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, with 2×2 MU-MIMO on each band. Wi-Fi 7 brings it Multi-Link Operation and the efficiency of the 802.11be standard, not the third band.
What does the NWA50BE's Smart Mesh MLO bring?
The link between access points uses Wi-Fi 7 Multi-Link Operation: a remote access point connects to the network wirelessly, over several bands at once, which increases this link's throughput and reduces latency compared with conventional mesh.
Do you need a controller or a subscription to manage the NWA50BE?
No: with NebulaFlex, the access point runs in standalone mode, managed locally, or in Nebula cloud mode. You can switch freely between the two, without dedicated controller hardware.
Why is the NWA50BE's network port 2.5 Gbps?
Because the radio far exceeds Gigabit speeds: with more than 4 Gbps on the 5 GHz band, a 1 Gbps port would become the bottleneck. The port negotiates 1 or 2.5 Gbps depending on the switch at the other end, and it is also the port that receives PoE.
Does the NWA50BE withstand interference from a mobile mast?
Yes, it has a built-in 4G and 5G interference filter, which reduces interference from nearby mobile networks. This is useful in a building fitted with an indoor mobile relay or close to a mobile mast.
Does the NWA50BE support WPA3?
Yes, complemented by rogue access point detection, MAC address filtering and VLAN segmentation: a guest network stays separate from the internal network on the same access point.
Does the connection hold when moving between several Zyxel access points?
Yes: roaming relies on 802.11r, 802.11k and 802.11v. The device switches to the neighbouring access point without re-authenticating, which keeps an ongoing call or video conference going.
How much ceiling space does the NWA50BE take up?
150 × 150 × 35 mm and 412 g, with internal antennas — nothing sticks out of the enclosure. The mounting plate and screws are supplied along with the power adapter.
In what conditions does the NWA50BE operate?
Indoors, between 0 and 50 °C, with 10 to 95 % non-condensing humidity — ten degrees more headroom than the average office access point, which allows for a poorly ventilated equipment room.
Is the equipment new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document for 1 year. The access point comes with its power adapter and mounting plate, ready to install with no additional accessories.
