Frequently asked questions about this product

How do the Soundgear Sense deliver sound without blocking your ears?
They rest on the curve of the ear and direct sound pressure in waves towards the ear canal, without blocking it. An inverted phase reduces dispersion at the same time: you hear your music and the world around you, with almost no sound leakage.
Is the neckband included?
Yes, it is in the box, along with the earbuds, the charging case and a USB-C cable. The adjustable ear hooks are enough for everyday use; the neckband secures the fit during a run, so you do not lose an earbud.
How long does the battery last?
6 h per charge in the earbuds, plus 18 h in the case, for 24 h in total. For calls, allow 3.5 h. And 15 minutes of charging gives 4 h of music; a full charge takes 2 h.
Can an open design deliver real bass?
These earbuds use 16.2 mm drivers — one per ear, very large for this format — combined with a bass enhancement algorithm. Expect 32 ohms impedance and 112 dB sensitivity over 20 Hz – 20 kHz.
Can you use just one earbud?
Yes, thanks to Dual Connect: the two earbuds can be worn together or separately. When you open the case, they pair automatically with the device they already know, with no action on your part.
Can you wear them in a downpour or on a dusty trail?
Yes: they are rated IP54, resistant to dust and splashing water. A gust of wind on a dusty trail or a summer shower will not stop them. The stated maximum operating temperature is 45 °C.
How do they handle calls outdoors?
Four microphones take care of it, with processing designed for wind: the people you talk to hear every word, even outdoors in windy weather. This is where an open design has to prove itself, as air circulates freely around the microphone.
Are they heavy to wear all day?
12.85 g per earbud, or 25.7 g for the pair; the case weighs 68.1 g and the neckband just 5.3 g. As the hooks are adjustable, the weight is spread over the curve of the ear rather than in the ear canal.
Can the touch controls be reprogrammed?
Yes, in the My JBL Headphones app. A single tap on the earbud controls music, volume and calls, and the app lets you redefine these gestures, find your earbuds and turn on the Smart Audio & Video modes.
Are these JBL earbuds new and under warranty?
Yes, new and genuine, with the invoice serving as the warranty document for 1 year. Full specifications are in the manufacturer's datasheet.
