Frequently asked questions about this product
Does the Soundgear Clips clip pinch the ear?
No: the clamping force is calibrated to stay stable without pinching or floating, and a soft, flexible, lightweight material covers the pliable memory-wire hook. At 6.5 g per earbud, you can wear them all day.
Does anything go inside the ear canal?
No, there are no ear tips: these earbuds clip onto the outer ear and deliver sound through air conduction. The ear canal stays open, so you can hear the street, a colleague or an announcement along with your music.
How long does the battery last?
8 h from the earbuds alone and 32 h in total with the case, which recharges them three times. If you forget to charge them, a 10-minute charge gives you 3 h of listening — enough to cover a last-minute journey.
Is the charging cable included?
No, it is not included in the box. Any USB-C cable will do, starting with your phone's. It is the kind of detail you discover on the evening you unbox them: better to know beforehand.
Does the sound leak to people nearby?
The speaker is precisely angled to limit leakage, and the SonicArc design aims for private listening — only you hear your music and calls. It is the usual trade-off of the open format, treated as a priority here.
Can I wear them in light rain?
Yes: they are IP54-certified, resistant to rain and dust. The 5 covers dust ingress, the 4 water splashes from any direction. They are not waterproof against immersion, but this covers everyday journeys.
Can the touch controls be customised?
Yes, in the JBL Headphones app: the gestures of each earbud can be reassigned to suit your habits. The app also gives access to six EQ presets or a fully adjustable 10-band equaliser.
Can I connect them to my phone and computer at the same time?
Yes, multipoint connection handles two Bluetooth devices simultaneously, switching between them without re-pairing. Google Fast Pair pairs an Android phone with a single tap, over Bluetooth 5.4.
Does the bass hold up despite the open-ear design?
An 11 mm dynamic driver, large for this format, is backed by adaptive Bass Boost, which reinforces the low end according to the volume. The sound is described as smooth and rich, with punchy bass and no distortion.
Are these JBL earbuds new and under warranty?
Yes, new and genuine, with the invoice serving as the warranty document for 1 year. The case weighs 39.7 g and slips into a pocket. The reference for this white colour is 1200130027901.
Three microphones per ear and wind-cutting processing keep the voice intelligible mid-run. Up to 12 h of listening from the earbuds with noise cancelling off, and 48 h in total with the case.
•6 microphones and a wind-cutting algorithm for calls
•Adaptive active noise cancelling
•12 h of listening from the earbuds with noise cancelling off, 8 h with it on
The silicone ear hook with memory wire bends to any ear shape and stays put during exercise. 10.5 g per earbud, touch controls and Ambient Aware mode to stay aware of the road.
Sweat, rain, salt water and sand do not stop them: the IP68 rating protects them from water and dust alike. Up to 8 h of listening with active noise cancelling, 48 h in total with the case.
Four microphones analyse the surrounding noise and cut it automatically; Smart Ambient mode does the opposite and lets voices back in. Multipoint to move from the tablet to the phone without disconnecting.

•Smart Ambient mode: hear your surroundings without taking them out
Two battery regimes: 10 h from the earbuds alone and 40 h in total with the case, noise cancelling on; 12 h and 48 h with it off. Ambient Aware and TalkThru let outside sounds back in.
Nothing goes into the ear canal: air conduction leaves the ear open, and you keep the music and the sounds of the street at the same time. Sound leakage stays minimal, including in shared spaces.
•Open around-ear format, the ear canal stays clear
Galaxy AI continuously adjusts the equaliser and noise cancellation to the shape of your ear. Up to 6 h of listening per charge, 5 h with noise cancellation, and 30 h in total with the case, which charges wirelessly.
More than 30 h of listening in total with the case, 7 h of that for the earbuds alone, and the case also recharges wirelessly. Simultaneous connection to two devices, and playback stops as soon as you take an earbud out.
•7 h of listening per charge, more than 30 h in total with the case
Two-way speaker and dual amplifier: bass and treble are driven separately. Noise cancellation adapts to the environment on its own, opens up when you speak and lets sirens through.
Tracks, volume, lyrics and even the photo shutter: everything is controlled on the case colour screen. Noise cancelling reaches 48 dB, sound is Hi-Res LDAC and the set lasts 30 hours with the case.
