Does the EAP230-Wall mount on an existing flush-mounted wall box?
Yes, it fixes onto a standard junction box, in place of a wall socket, with the mounting kit supplied. Its square format of 86.8 × 86.8 mm and 30.2 mm thick makes it very discreet in a bedroom or an office.
What power supply do you need for the EAP230-Wall?
An 802.3af PoE port is enough: its typical consumption is only 7 W, far below the 15.4 W this type of port delivers. A single network cable therefore carries both power and data to the wall, with no power socket.
Is the EAP230-Wall's network port Gigabit?
Yes, it supports 10/100/1000 Mbps, over 10/100/1000Base-T cabling. With a theoretical radio throughput of 867 Mbps on the 5 GHz band, the port is therefore not the limiting factor of this access point.
Does the EAP230-Wall broadcast on the 6 GHz band?
No, it is dual-band: 867 Mbps on 5 GHz and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, in Wi-Fi 5. The 6 GHz band belongs to Wi-Fi 6E, a more recent generation.
How many Wi-Fi networks can you create on the EAP230-Wall?
16 SSIDs, with VLAN segmentation, rate limiting and quality of service. A room or an office can thus have its own network, separate from the staff network.
What encryption does the EAP230-Wall support?
WPA2-PSK and WPA2-Enterprise, the latter authenticating each user against a server rather than with a shared key. MAC address filtering and access control lists round off the protection.
How does an administrator monitor the EAP230-Wall?
Through a web interface, SNMP versions 1 and 2, a system log and secure file transfer via SFTP over SSH v2 — useful for automating configuration backups or updates.
Are the EAP230-Wall's antennas visible?
No, its two antennas are internal, with a maximum gain of 3.6 dBi, fully housed in the white enclosure. A single status LED shows the state of the access point.
Does the EAP230-Wall choose its channel by itself?
Yes, it provides automatic channel selection and automatic frequency scanning: it identifies the least congested channels with no intervention — invaluable when several neighbouring wall-plate access points share a corridor.
Under what conditions does the EAP230-Wall operate?
Indoors, between 0 and 40 °C, at 10 to 90% humidity. Its low heat output — 7 W — lets it stay recessed in a wall box without troublesome overheating.
Is the equipment new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document for 1 year. The access point is CE and RoHS certified, and is managed from the Omada platform alongside the other devices in the range.
