Frequently asked questions about this product

Are all 5 ports on the TL-SX105 10 Gbps?
Yes, all five RJ45 ports reach 10 Gbps and automatically drop back to 100 or 1,000 Mbps. The 802.3an and 802.3bz standards are supported: the intermediate 2.5 and 5 Gbps speeds of a recent Wi-Fi access point or a multi-gig network card are therefore recognised.
Does the TL-SX105 make any noise on a desk?
No: it has no fan and runs silently, despite its five 10 Gbps ports. That is what allows it to sit in an editing suite or an office, where a rack-mount 10G switch would only be out of earshot in a technical room.
What internal performance does this switch offer?
100 Gbps switching capacity and 74.4 Mpps, with a 32,000-entry MAC address table and 16 MB of buffer memory. All five ports can therefore work at 10 Gbps in both directions without the switch becoming the bottleneck.
Can you create VLANs on the TL-SX105?
No: it is an unmanaged model, with no configuration interface and no link aggregation. It is there to bring 10 Gbps to a few demanding machines, not to structure a business network.
Does the switch support jumbo frames?
Yes, up to 10,000 bytes. When copying large files to network storage, these large frames lighten the processor load on both sides and bring real-world throughput closer to the theoretical maximum.
What power supply and power consumption should you plan for?
An external 12 V / 2 A adapter, included, for a maximum consumption of 21.4 W. The switch operates from 0 to 40 °C, at 10 to 90% relative humidity.
Can the TL-SX105 be mounted on a wall?
Yes, wall mounting is supported. The casing measures 226 × 131 × 35 mm: it can be screwed behind a piece of furniture or inside a cabinet, without taking up desk space or requiring a 19-inch rack.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The TL-SX105 comes with its power cord and user manual, and carries CE, FCC and RoHS certification. None of its ports provides PoE.
