What PoE budget does the GWN7806P offer across its 48 ports?
400 W in total, with a maximum of 30 W per port, under the 802.3af and 802.3at standards. Across 48 ports, the budget is shared: some thirty 12 W cameras use almost all of it. Allocation is dynamic, with priority adjustable port by port.
What are this switch's 6 SFP+ slots for?
They are 10 Gbps links: for uplinking to the network core, connecting a server or a storage array, or linking several buildings over fibre. Six slots on the front panel, on a chassis that already has 48 Gigabit access ports.
How many VLANs does this switch support?
4,000 VLANs, with IEEE 802.1Q tagging, port-based VLANs and voice VLAN, plus VLAN virtual interfaces. The MAC address table goes up to 32,000 entries here, static, dynamic or filtering — double that of the series' 24-port models.
How many links can be aggregated towards the network core?
Twenty-seven aggregation groups, leaving plenty of room to double or quadruple each uplink. Spanning tree, for its part, handles 64 instances in STP, RSTP or MSTP, for the most elaborate redundant topologies.
Can several GWN7806P switches be stacked?
Stacking is listed as “pending” by the manufacturer: the feature is intended to manage up to 16 switches from a single interface, with redundancy between units, but it is not active at present. Do not count on it for an immediate deployment.
What internal performance does this 54-port chassis offer?
216 Gbps of switching capacity and 160.7 Mpps, with 16 MB of buffer memory. The sizing covers the 48 Gigabit ports and the 6 10-Gigabit links working together, with no internal congestion at peak times.
How is this switch managed day to day?
Through the local web interface, CLI or SNMP, or remotely via GWN.Cloud and GWN Manager — the platform installed on your own server. The controller is built into the web interface, at no extra cost and with no subscription.
How do you restrict network access across 48 outlets?
With 802.1X authentication backed by RADIUS or TACACS+, complemented by port isolation, port security with sticky MAC, MAC address filtering, IP Source Guard, ARP inspection and denial-of-service protection.
Does this chassis have fans, and where should it be installed?
Three fans cool it: it belongs in a rack or a technical room, not in an office. It operates from 0 to 45 °C at 10 to 90% non-condensing humidity, which leaves some margin in a room without air conditioning.
What is in the box, and how is the switch mounted?
The box contains the switch, a 1.2 m (10 A) power cable, a 25 cm grounding cable, four rubber feet and the rack-mount kits. It can therefore be mounted in a 19-inch rack or on a flat surface, depending on the room.
Is voice and video traffic given priority?
Yes: advanced quality of service prioritises network traffic, the voice VLAN isolates telephony, and IGMP and MLD snooping only sends multicast to the ports concerned. Rate limiting can also throttle an overly chatty port.
Is the switch new, and where can I find its documentation?
