What connectivity does the Grandstream GWN7812P offer?
16 Gigabit RJ45 PoE ports and 4 10 Gbps SFP+ ports. The sixteen copper ports take workstations, cameras and access points; the four optical slots are used for uplinks to the network core or a server.
What PoE budget does the GWN7812P offer?
240 W in total, up to 30 W per port, allocated dynamically by intelligent power control. Enough to power a mix of IP cameras, phones and Wi-Fi access points without running a power socket to each point.
Does this switch route between VLANs?
Yes, it is a Layer 3 switch. It handles static routing and RIP, RIPng, OSPF and OSPFv3 dynamic routing, over IPv4 as well as IPv6, with VLAN virtual interfaces: traffic between internal segments stays inside the switch.
How many VLANs does the GWN7812P support?
Up to 4,000 VLANs, port-based or 802.1Q tagged, with a voice VLAN dedicated to IP phones. The MAC address table goes up to 16,000 entries, static, dynamic or filtering.
What security protections does this switch apply?
ARP inspection, IP Source Guard, DHCP snooping, protection against denial-of-service attacks, port isolation, port security with sticky MAC and storm control. 802.1X authentication relies on RADIUS or TACACS+, and management runs over HTTPS or SSH.
How can network loops be avoided on this switch?
With the STP, RSTP and MSTP spanning tree, across 32 instances, complemented by loop protection with BPDU filtering. 802.3ad link aggregation also lets you double an uplink without creating a loop.
What performance does the GWN7812P offer?
112 Gbps switching capacity and 83.328 Mpps, including 56 Gbps non-blocking throughput, with 12 MB of buffer memory. The four 10 Gbps links can therefore work together with no internal bottleneck.
How is the GWN7812P managed day to day?
Through the local web interface, the command-line interface or SNMP, with a built-in controller provided at no extra cost. The fleet can also be managed from GWN.Cloud, or from GWN Manager installed on your own network.
Does the switch handle multicast video surveillance streams?
Yes, with IGMP and MLD snooping, over IPv4 as well as IPv6: multicast streams are only sent to the ports that request them. On a network loaded with cameras, this prevents a stream from occupying every socket.
Is this switch noisy in operation?
It has two fans, which delivering 240 W of PoE in a 1U housing requires. Plan to put it in a rack or technical room rather than an open-plan workspace.
Where can the GWN7812P be installed?
In a 19-inch rack, with the mounting kits included, but also on a desk or on a wall. A Kensington security slot lets you lock it down physically in a shared room.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
