Frequently asked questions about this product
How are the 190 W of PoE+ shared across 24 ports?
190 W shared across the 24 ports, each PoE+ compliant up to 30 W. A dozen cameras at 15 W already exhaust the budget: on this model, it is the budget that limits the deployment, not the number of available sockets.
How much power does this switch draw?
231.07 W maximum, including the 190 W of PoE. The switch itself uses little power: most of the energy goes to the cameras, access points and phones powered over the network cable.
What are the 2 combo ports on this switch for?
They are combo ports, RJ45 or SFP fibre: each one can be used with copper or optical, never both at once. They take the uplink to the network core, over fibre as soon as the distance exceeds copper's 100 metres.
How is this switch managed?
At Layer 2, with SNMP monitoring, and from the Netgear Insight cloud — mobile app and portal — to manage several sites remotely. The switch also supports IPv6.
How much rack space does this chassis take up?
440 × 257 × 43.2 mm and 3.15 kg: 1U high and 26 cm deep, which fits in a deep wall-mount cabinet. The switch is designed for 19-inch rack mounting.
What speed do the 24 ports of this switch offer?
1 Gbps per port, at 10, 100 or 1,000 Mbps depending on the connected device, with PoE+ power over the same cable. The two combo ports serve as the uplink to the rest of the network, over copper or fibre.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. This is the Netgear GS724TPv3, a 24-port PoE+ smart managed switch designed for small and medium-sized business networks.
