How far from the ZyXEL GS1350-26HP can a camera be placed?
Up to 250 m in extended range mode, compared with 100 m on a standard Ethernet link. That is what sets the GS1350 series apart in video surveillance: the camera at the far end of the site stays powered without an intermediate switch.
How many PoE+ ports does this switch have?
24 Gigabit PoE+ 802.3at ports, up to 30 W per port, plus 2 Gigabit/SFP combo ports for the uplink. The total PoE budget reaches 375 W, enough to cover the 24 cameras of a complete installation.
What can you configure on the GS1350-26HP?
VLANs, quality of service and SNMP monitoring, on a smart managed model. Isolating the camera network from the office network can therefore be done without any additional equipment.
How much electrical power should you allow for this switch?
Up to 448.9 W, once the 375 W of PoE is being delivered to the cameras. It is this figure that determines the UPS sizing for the video surveillance room, not the consumption of the switch alone.
