How many of the ZyXEL XMG-105HP's ports supply PoE++?
Four of the five ports, up to 60 W each, within a total budget of 70 W. A single device drawing full power therefore uses up most of the budget: spread moderate devices across the ports instead.
Are all five ports 2.5 Gbps?
Yes, all five ports run at up to 2.5 Gbps. This is the speed that lets a recent Wi-Fi access point or a computer fitted with a multi-Gigabit card perform to its full potential on existing cabling.
What is this switch's SFP+ slot for?
For the 10 Gbps uplink, to the network core or to network storage. It prevents the five 2.5 Gbps ports from being held back by a single Gigabit outgoing link.
Does this switch need configuring?
No: it is unmanaged and ready to use. No VLANs, no web interface: you plug it in, and PoE++ activates automatically when a compatible device is detected.
How much space and power should I allow for?
160 × 110 × 26 mm and 492 g, and up to 90 W once the 70 W of PoE++ is being delivered. It is not rack-mountable and sits on a shelf or in a network cabinet, with space around it for air.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. This is the ZyXEL XMG-105HP, a 5-port multi-Gigabit PoE++ switch.
