Frequently asked questions about this product

Are the 24 ports of this Catalyst 2960 Gigabit?
No: they are 10/100 Mbps. Only the two additional ports reach Gigabit speed, and they serve as uplinks. This is the point to check before connecting recent workstations: 100 Mbps remains the ceiling on the access ports.
How is this switch managed remotely?
Through SNMP v1, v2c and v3, Telnet, TFTP and SSH, with RMON groups 1 and 2 for reporting statistics. SSH-encrypted command-line access avoids exposing credentials on the network.
Which switching standards does this model support?
802.1Q VLANs, 802.1D Spanning Tree, 802.1w RSTP and 802.1s MSTP, 802.3ad link aggregation, 802.3x flow control, 802.1p prioritisation and 802.1X port-based access control — the full set of features expected of a Layer 2 access switch.
