What write endurance does this 2 TB VP4300 Lite offer?
1,600 TB, or 800 full drive writes, compared with 800 TB on the 1 TB version. The rated mean time between failures is 1,800,000 hours. On a video editing or gaming PC, it is this margin that determines the drive's real lifespan.
What speed does it reach once installed in a PlayStation 5?
6,100 MB/s sequential read on PS5, compared with 7,400 MB/s on PC. The two figures are quoted separately, as the console imposes its own operating mode: the PS5 figure is the one to go by if the expansion is intended for the console.
What speeds does this 2 TB version reach on a PC?
7,400 MB/s read and 6,400 MB/s write. This is the same level as the 1 TB version; the 500 GB drops to 7,000/4,000 MB/s and the 4 TB to 6,000 MB/s write. This 2 TB capacity is therefore at the top of the range in performance as well as in usable endurance.
Does this SSD have a cache memory chip?
No, it adopts Viper Gaming's DRAM-less design and relies on Host Memory Buffer — a portion of the PC's RAM — backed by support for Toggle 5 and ONFi 5 flash modes, which double memory throughput to up to 2,400 MT/s.
How does it avoid slowing down in the middle of a gaming session?
Through a built-in thermal sensor that controls throttling, combined with a special-edition ultra-thin graphene heatsink. The drive adjusts its speed to its actual temperature rather than succumbing to overheating, with the aim of consistent speeds over time.
Which operating systems does this SSD support?
Windows 7, 8.0, 8.1, 10 and 11, on both Intel and AMD platforms, with the NVMe 2.0 standard on a PCIe Gen4 x4 interface. On Windows 7 and 8.0, a driver may be needed, depending on the configuration, before the drive is recognised.
Is the drive new and under warranty?
It is new and your invoice serves as the warranty document. Its part number is VP4300L2TBM28H, to be quoted for any return. The full datasheet gives the details of the range's four capacities.
