Why does this switch have no RJ45 ports?
It is an all-fibre aggregation switch: its 8 SFP+ slots bring together the uplinks of several access switches, servers or storage arrays. Each slot accepts a 10G or 1G module.
Can a 10 Gigabit switch do without a fan?
Yes, this one can: its fanless design makes it completely silent, in a 442 × 120 × 43.7 mm SGCC steel chassis in 1U format. That is rare on aggregation equipment, and it means it can be installed outside a comms room.
What internal performance does this switch claim?
160 Gbps switching capacity and 80 Gbps of non-blocking throughput, with a 16,000-entry MAC address table. Enough to aggregate eight 10 Gigabit links without creating a bottleneck.
What management features does this model offer?
Layer 2: up to 1,000 VLANs, LACP link aggregation, IGMP snooping and 802.1X access control, with STP and RSTP spanning tree against loops. It is managed through the UniFi Network application.
How can you check this switch's status without a computer?
With the 1.3-inch touchscreen built into the front panel, which shows the device status and allows local monitoring. Configuration, however, is done through UniFi Network.
