Frequently asked questions about this product

What is the difference between the 16 PoE+ ports and the 8 PoE++ ports?
Power: the 16 PoE+ ports deliver up to 30 W, the 8 PoE++ ports up to 64 W each. Keep the latter for power-hungry devices — Wi-Fi 6E access points, motorised cameras with heaters, network-powered displays.
Is the 400 W budget enough for all 24 ports?
No, it is a shared budget: 400 W to be split across the ports. Sixteen access points drawing 25 W each use it up entirely. The calculation is based on the actual total drawn by your devices, never on the number of ports multiplied by their maximum power.
What happens during a power outage?
The switch accepts a DC backup power supply through its RPS input, in addition to its 450 W internal power supply. A backup source then takes over, keeping the network and the PoE devices running.
Can this switch route between VLANs?
Yes, it is a Layer 3 model: inter-VLAN routing, static routing, DHCP server and relay. The table holds 64 IPv4 routes and 768 ARP entries, with 1,000 VLANs and 16,000 MAC addresses — sized for a business network, not for a carrier core.
Is this switch suitable for an audiovisual installation?
Yes: it comes with professional AV profiles — Dante, Q-SYS, NDI, SDVoE, Shure, AES67, Crestron —, along with advanced IGMP settings (querier, fast leave, router port) and DSCP quality of service, exactly what these protocols require.
How much power should you plan for at full load?
450 W maximum, PoE included, compared with 50 W with no powered device connected. Size the UPS on the actual load: on a PoE switch, most of the power goes to the cameras and access points.
How much rack space does this chassis take up?
442 × 285 × 44 mm, i.e. 1U with a depth of 28.5 cm, and its mounting brackets fit racks from 400 to 1,200 mm deep. A 1.3-inch touchscreen on the front shows the switch status without any software.
What internal performance does this 26-port model offer?
88 Gbps of switching capacity, 44 Gbps of non-blocking throughput and 65 Mpps, with a 2 MB packet buffer and two 10 Gbps SFP+ slots for the uplink to the network core.
Do you need a UniFi controller to run this switch?
Yes: configuration is done through the UniFi Network application, hosted on a UniFi console, a local server or the Ubiquiti cloud. Have it ready before installation, as the front touchscreen is only used to check the device status.
What access protections does this switch provide?
802.1X access control, access control lists — 128 IPv4 rules and 128 MAC rules —, device isolation, MAC address blocking, MAC address restriction, DHCP snooping, storm control, egress rate limiting and loop protection.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
