Is the access point supplied with its power supply?
No: no AC adapter is included. It must be powered via PoE 802.3af/at from a switch or an injector, or you need a separate 12 V / 1.5 A power supply (5.5 × 2.1 × 10 mm connector). Its power consumption stays below 12.95 W.
Can the advertised 1,774 Mbps be reached towards the Internet?
No: this figure is the combined total of the two radios (1,201 Mbps on 5 GHz + 573 Mbps on 2.4 GHz), whereas the wired connection goes through a single 1 Gbps port, with no 2.5 Gbps. Traffic therefore remains capped at one gigabit: the benefit of Wi-Fi 6 lies in client density and stability.
Does this Reyee RG-RAP62 use the 6 GHz band?
No: it transmits on 2.4 GHz (2.400–2.4835 GHz) and 5 GHz (5.150–5.850 GHz). It is a dual-band Wi-Fi 6 access point: MLO, 4K-QAM and TWT are not supported. On the other hand, OFDMA and 2×2 MIMO are indeed present on both bands.
How many users and what area does a single RG-RAP62 cover?
About 125 m² of optimal coverage and 100 recommended clients in 11ax BW80, i.e. 16 on the 2.4 GHz band and 84 on the 5 GHz band. With devices still on Wi-Fi 5 (11ac), the recommended total drops to 80 clients.
Do you have to run a network cable to every access point?
Not necessarily: Reyee Mesh lets one access point link wirelessly to another, which reduces the cabling needed in an existing building. A self-organising network can bring together up to 300 access points, configured and monitored as a single whole from the Ruijie cloud or the app.
Can you create a guest Wi-Fi with a welcome page without a controller?
Yes: the captive portal is standalone, with bandwidth limiting, and is managed from the Ruijie app or the local web interface. You can broadcast up to 8 SSIDs and isolate clients from one another at Layer 2. One limitation to be aware of: data quotas are not supported.
Do devices switch from one access point to another on their own?
Yes: the RG-RAP62 supports the 802.11k/v and 802.11r roaming standards, both Layer 2 and Layer 3 roaming, as well as Reyee's AI Roaming. A user moving from one room to another does not have to reconnect, and WIO optimisation automatically adjusts channels and transmit power.
What level of security can be enforced on the Wi-Fi networks?
From WPA2 (AES) to WPA3-SAE, with WPA2-PSK/WPA3-SAE mixed mode for older devices and OWE, which encrypts even an open network. For professional use, 802.1X authentication, address block and allow lists and client isolation complete the set-up.
Can it be installed under a canopy or in an unheated room?
No: its IP41 rating and 0 to 40 °C operating range restrict it to indoor use. It mounts on the ceiling or wall — pole mounting is not supported — and withstands surge and lightning protection of ± 2 kV.
Can it serve as a router for a small site with no other equipment?
Yes: in addition to access point mode, it has a router mode with NAT, DHCP server, static IP addressing and PPPoE client. Enough to equip a shop, a practice or a small office that has no dedicated gateway, with the option of adding a router later without replacing the access point.
How much space does it take up once mounted on the ceiling?
A disc 175 mm in diameter and 39 mm thick, weighing less than 400 g without the mounting kit, in “Ruijie White”, with a single blue status LED and a reset button. It blends into the suspended ceiling of a hotel, an office or a classroom.
Is this access point new and under warranty?
Yes: the product is new, supplied with its invoice, which serves as the warranty document for 1 year. Details of data rates per band, sensitivity thresholds and software features are in the datasheet (PDF).
