How thick is the LEGEND 960 with its heatsink?
4.68 mm, built-in heatsink included. That is much less than the LEGEND 960 MAX from the same family, which reaches 10.65 mm with its fins: this version therefore fits under a motherboard M.2 cover where the MAX version does not.
What speeds does this 1 TB version deliver?
7,400 MB/s read and 6,000 MB/s write, with 730,000 IOPS in 4 KB random read and 610,000 in write. The interface is PCIe Gen4 x4, compliant with the NVMe 1.4 standard.
Can this SSD encrypt the data it stores?
Yes, it supports 256-bit AES hardware encryption, performed by the drive itself. Hardware LDPC error correction also ensures the accuracy of transferred data, and the controller that runs it all is an SMI SM2264.
Does this SSD have its own cache memory?
Yes, a dedicated DRAM cache, supplemented by SLC caching. The mapping table stays on the drive instead of borrowing the PC's RAM, which helps it keep pace when multitasking and during long transfers.
Can it be installed in a PlayStation 5 as expanded storage?
Yes, ADATA rates the LEGEND 960 as compatible with the console's M.2 expansion slot. Its 4.68 mm built-in heatsink stays within a size that fits the bay, unlike models topped with tall fins.
Does it work on a motherboard that only supports PCIe 3.0?
Yes, it is backward compatible with PCIe 3.0: speeds then drop to 3,400 MB/s read and 3,000 MB/s write, with the bus becoming the limiting factor. A PCIe 4.0 motherboard is needed to get the advertised 7,400 and 6,000 MB/s.
What is the write endurance of this 1 TB version?
780 TB, or 780 full drive writes. The advertised mean time between failures is 2,000,000 hours. ADATA's SSD Toolbox software shows at any time how much of this allowance has already been used and the remaining lifespan.
Is the drive new and under warranty?
It is new and your invoice serves as the warranty document. It carries the reference ALEG-960-1TCS, to be quoted for any return. The full datasheet lists all the values for this capacity.
