Frequently asked questions about this product

How are the 50 ports of the Zyxel GS1920-48V2 laid out?
44 Gigabit RJ-45 ports, 4 RJ-45/SFP combo ports and 2 Gigabit SFP slots. The combo ports can be used with either copper or fibre; the two dedicated SFP slots are for long-distance links between buildings or to an aggregation switch.
Does this 48-port switch supply PoE?
No, none of its ports delivers power. It is a switch designed for connecting workstations and servers. To power cameras or Wi-Fi access points, you need the PoE version from the same range, or injectors on the links concerned.
Do you need to know the command line to manage it?
No: everything is done through a web interface. VLANs, quality of service, IGMP snooping, LACP link aggregation and access control lists are all available from a browser, with no syntax to learn.
Can the GS1920-48V2 be managed from the cloud?
Yes, through Zyxel's Nebula platform, with no additional licence. Switching from standalone management to centralised management takes just a few clicks, so you do not have to replace the hardware as your network grows.
What performance does this switch deliver?
100 Gbps of switching capacity and 74 Mpps, with a 16,000-entry MAC address table. It supports IPv6 and the STP, RSTP and MSTP spanning tree protocols, and applies Energy Efficient Ethernet to idle ports.
Is this 48-port switch noisy?
It has a variable-speed fan that only speeds up when the temperature inside the housing requires it. On a 50-port rack-mounted switch, this is the usual compromise between cooling and quiet operation.
How much rack space does the GS1920-48V2 take up?
441 × 200 × 44.5 mm, i.e. 1U high and 20 cm deep, for 19-inch rack mounting. This moderate depth means it fits in a wall-mounted rack, provided air can flow out at the back.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
