How many ports on the Zyxel XMG1915-18EP supply PoE++?
Eight of the sixteen 2.5G ports, with 802.3bt PoE++ at up to 60 W each and a 180 W budget in actual-consumption mode. The other eight 2.5G ports are for workstations and network storage.
Do you need to rewire to get 2.5 Gbps?
No: 2.5 Gbps runs over the Cat 5e cabling already in place. Wi-Fi 6 or 6E access points and computers fitted with a multi-Gigabit card deliver their full performance without touching the in-wall cabling.
What are the two SFP+ slots for?
For the 10 Gbps uplink, over fibre or DAC cable, to an aggregation switch or a 10G storage server. Sixteen 2.5 Gbps ports would quickly saturate a narrower uplink.
Is this switch noisy?
It has a variable-speed fan, from 19 dBA: almost inaudible at low load. It only speeds up when delivering PoE heats up the housing.
What can you configure on this switch?
VLANs, quality of service, IGMP snooping and LACP aggregation, from the local web interface or the Nebula cloud. NebulaFlex technology lets you switch from one mode to the other without changing hardware.
What performance does this switch deliver?
120 Gbps of switching capacity and 89.2 Mpps, with a 16,000-entry MAC address table. The sixteen 2.5 Gbps ports and the two 10 Gbps links can therefore all work at the same time without a bottleneck.
How much rack space does this switch take up?
330 × 230 × 44 mm: 1U high, 23 cm deep, for 19-inch rack mounting. Its compact size means it fits in a well-ventilated wall cabinet.
