Frequently asked questions about this product

How much power does this SSD draw, and does it matter on battery?
2.07 W under full load and 0.37 W at idle. Patriot presents this low consumption as a way to extend a laptop's battery life: on a mobile computer, the difference compared with a hard drive and its spinning motor shows directly in usage time.
What do the quoted 290,000 read IOPS mean?
They are the small 4 KB random accesses handled every second: 290,000 read, 260,000 write. It is these that make multitasking smooth — several programs open, an update running in the background — far more than sequential speeds.
How many terabytes of writes can this 512 GB version handle?
240 TB, or nearly five hundred full drive writes — twice the 256 GB. The firmware applies advanced wear levelling, which spreads writes across the entire memory instead of always using the same cells.
What speeds are quoted for the 512 GB version of the P300?
1,700 MB/s read and 1,100 MB/s write sequential, on PCIe Gen3 x4 and NVMe 1.3. This is the same level as the 256 GB version; the 1 TB version, for its part, reaches 2,100 and 1,650 MB/s. What the 512 GB brings is space and endurance.
Which operating systems does this SSD support?
Windows 7, 8.0, 8.1 and 10. On Windows 7 and 8.0, a driver may be needed before the drive is recognised. Its operating range is 0 to 70 °C, which covers the inside of a compact case during prolonged use.
Does this SSD slow down when the temperature rises?
It has thermal management that temporarily reduces its speed rather than let the drive overheat. Combined with end-to-end data path protection and SmartECC technology, it is designed to extend the drive's lifespan under heavy use.
Is the drive new and under warranty?
It is new and your invoice serves as the warranty document. Its part number is P300P512GM28, to be quoted for any return, and it weighs 9 g and measures 8 by 2.2 by 0.38 cm. The datasheet gives the details.
