Is a power adapter supplied with the RG-RAP2260(G)?
No, no AC adapter is included. The access point is powered either by a PoE+ 802.3at switch or injector, or by a 12 V / 1.5 A power supply to be purchased separately (5.5 mm outer / 2.1 mm inner connector). Its power consumption stays below 15.5 W.
Is an 802.3af PoE switch enough to power this access point?
No: the access point requires PoE+ 802.3at, as 802.3af is not supported. And of its two Gigabit ports, only one accepts PoE power: that is the one to connect to the switch or injector. So check the exact standard your switch supports before ordering.
How many users can it really handle at the same time?
Two figures coexist, and they do not measure the same thing: the access capacity exceeds 500 users, but the recommended number of clients to maintain performance is 100 in Wi-Fi 6 (16 on 2.4 GHz + 84 on 5 GHz) and 80 in Wi-Fi 5. Size your installation on the basis of 100 per access point.
Does the AX1800 throughput really get through the network cable?
The uplink is capped at 1 Gbps: both ports are 10/100/1000BASE-T, with no 2.5G port or SFP slot. The combined radio throughput of 1,774 Mbps (1,201 on 5 GHz + 573 on 2.4 GHz) is therefore shared behind a Gigabit uplink, which becomes the bottleneck when several clients transmit at the same time.
Can this access point be mounted on a wall or a pole?
No, it is ceiling-mount only: neither wall nor pole mounting. The warm white housing measures 194 × 194 × 35 mm and weighs less than 0.55 kg without the mounting kit, and its IP41 rating restricts it to indoor use, between 0 and 40 °C. On the front, there is only a green system LED and a reset button.
Is a separate Wi-Fi controller needed to manage several access points?
No. The access points self-organise into a network of up to 300 access points, managed from Ruijie Cloud, the Reyee app or the local web interface, with SNMP available. Guided setup of a site takes about 3 minutes.
Can this access point act as a router if I don't have one?
Yes, it includes a router mode in addition to access point mode: NAT, DHCP server, static IP address and PPPoE client are supported. On a small site, it then handles both the Internet connection and the Wi-Fi coverage; in access point mode, by contrast, it sits behind an existing router.
Can coverage be extended without running a new cable?
Yes, thanks to Reyee Mesh: an additional access point connects wirelessly to the one already installed. 802.11k/v/r roaming with AI Roaming prevents dropouts when moving from one access point to another, and Layer 3 roaming keeps the session alive even when changing subnet.
How many separate Wi-Fi networks can be created on this access point?
Up to 8 SSIDs, with 802.1Q VLANs and the option of using the same SSID on different VLANs. Layer 2 client isolation and allow/block lists cleanly separate a guest network from the internal network, and the captive portal works standalone, with no dedicated server to install.
What level of Wi-Fi security does it offer for a business?
It supports WPA3-SAE and OWE (Enhanced Open) in addition to WPA2-AES and WPA-PSK, as well as 802.1X authentication against a RADIUS server. The WPA2-PSK/WPA3-SAE mixed mode lets you keep older devices during the migration, and static allow/block lists lock down access.
Can throughput or data volume be limited per user?
Bandwidth limiting is available, as is a limit on the number of clients per radio. However, per-user data quotas are not supported.
Is this Reyee access point new and under warranty?
Yes: the equipment is new and sealed in its original packaging, supplied with its invoice, which serves as the warranty document for 1 year. Data rates per standard, receive sensitivities and software features are detailed in the manufacturer's datasheet (PDF).
