What speeds does the LEGEND 900 PRO claim in 4 TB?
7,400 MB/s read and 6,500 MB/s write sequential, over a PCIe Gen4 x4 interface compliant with the NVMe 1.4 standard. These figures are the same on the 2 TB and 4 TB versions in the range: it is endurance, not speed, that sets the largest capacity apart.
What write endurance does this 4 TB version offer?
2,400 TB, i.e. 600 full drive fills, against 1,200 TB on the 2 TB version. On a workstation that handles video rushes or 3D renders all day long, it is this reserve, far more than peak speed, that determines the drive's real lifespan.
Is the heatsink supplied with the module?
Yes. With it, the module measures 80 by 22 by 3.43 mm and weighs 9.2 g; without it, 2.15 mm and 6.2 g. Measure the clearance under the M.2 cover of your motherboard before ordering: that millimetre decides whether the assembly fits in the slot.
Can it be installed in a PlayStation 5 as expanded storage?
Yes, ADATA states PS5 compatibility for the LEGEND 900 PRO. With 4 TB, it is an expansion that settles the storage question for a long time, as the console's M.2 bay accepts a 2280 module fitted with its heatsink.
Does it work on a motherboard that only supports PCIe 3.0?
Yes, it is backward compatible with PCIe 3.0. Speeds are then capped by the motherboard's bus rather than by the drive, at around 3,400 MB/s read and 3,000 MB/s write. A Gen4 platform is needed to reach the advertised 7,400 and 6,500 MB/s.
Does this SSD have its own cache memory chip?
It relies on the Host Memory Buffer (HMB): rather than an onboard cache chip, it borrows a small portion of the PC's RAM to hold its mapping table, with an SLC caching algorithm taking over during write bursts.
How is data integrity protected on this drive?
By hardware LDPC error correction, which detects and corrects transmission errors before they reach your files. The memory is 3D NAND, the advertised mean time between failures is 1,500,000 hours, and the drive withstands shocks of 1,500 G for 0.5 ms.
How do you track the wear of a drive of this capacity?
With ADATA's free SSD Toolbox software. It reads the S.M.A.R.T. attributes and displays the drive's status, its level of wear and its remaining lifespan, as well as the operating temperature and the space used — useful for knowing where you stand on the 2,400 TB available.
Is the drive new and under warranty?
It is new and your invoice serves as the warranty document. It carries the reference SLEG-900P-4TCS, to be quoted for any return, as the range also exists in 1 TB and 2 TB. The datasheet gives the details for each capacity.
